VB.Net 2003 Won't Debug on a Laptop

Hi,

When I run VB.Net at work while connect to our LAN then everthing works OK.

But when I run VB.Net at home on a VAIO and run a project by selecting
Debug>Start the whole IDE freezes up. If I select Start Without Debugging
then every thing is OK.

I have tried disabling my firewall and virus protection but the IDE still
crashes. I also find that the project files are locked ater the IDE crashes
and I have to log off and on to release the locked files.

Does anyone know what could be the cause of this?

Thanks for your time...

HMM, sounds like you might already have a virus !, I've run .NET on several
laptops with no issues.

Has this ever worked.
If Yes, whats has changed lately ?
Do you have the latest virus definitions ?
Do you have Adware Doctor on your machine, as there may be something
affecting VS in there.

No it has never worked - it did not work on my old Dell laptop either.

I have the Standard Edition of VB.NET 2003 installed.

No Adware installed and my virsus definitions are up to date...

For the past couple of months, Idle won't start when I invoke it. I am at a complete loss for why this is. When this happens, they python command line still starts, and python works fine otherwise. Most interesting to me is that a reboot won't fix the problem. But if I just try it again sometime later it will work. Anyone have any ideas? I'm running python 2.3 on windows 2000 professional.

We have a Solution with about 30 VB.NET projects in it. The build runs fine on most PC's. We have one notebook, however that the build runs very slow on. CPU usage is minimal (<5%) and HDD activity is also very low. THe build takes about 20-30 seconds on most PC's and about 5-10 minutes on this one. It seems that there is some sort of timeout heppening. Any ideas anyone?

Hi, On a 3GHz computer with XP service pack 2 (and before service pack 2) with 1 gb ram, I experience a very long time (30-45 sec.) for VS to setup a debug version environment. On my laptop ( a 1.4GHz centrino thing with 512 mb ram) it only takes half the time!!??. I think these long debug setup times started when I included references to MS word in my app, if this could be an explanation I don't understand why this does not affect...

Hello, I've set up VS2003 on my laptop which is running Win XP pro in a stand alone situation, no domain or dc. When I try and "Create a blank solution", I use the Laptop IP address since localhost returns an error. When it connects to the web server (my laptop) it prompts me for a user name and password. I enter my Windows password (since I'm the only user on the computer aside from the administrator) and it returns an error "The...

Is there a way to find out where an application was created from? i.e. - work or home i.e. - if application sits on a (work) server/network, the IT people know the application is sitting there, but is there a way they can find out if that application was put there from a CD or email or created at work? Hint: It's not on a client/server database, just native jet database mdb created on Access 2003 (default 2000)...

I was given an unopened VS 2003. I can't tell if it uses .NET 1.1 or 2.0. I know that C# Express uses 2.0. Sadly, due to limited hard drive space, I cannot install both. In fact, if I install VS 2003, I will probably only install C# and J# for now (and I would have to uninstall C# Express and J# Express). For now, my main interest is in learning the fundamentals of C# and using some of my existing Java experience to play with J#. ...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
