clone MSSQL server 2000

5 New Member
I'm new to MSSQL Server, and I can't figure out how can i clone a server to the other computer in network. The only solution I can see - is per database copying. But it does fail for some reason. Probably I should start with system databases like master.

Info: Both PCs are W2K server, both have Enterprise SQL Server 2000 SP4 installed.

Try to backup then restore database not copy.

See examples:
--Back up the entire MyNwind database

--Note The MyNwind database is shown for illustration only.

--This example creates a logical backup device in which a full backup of the
--MyNwind database is placed.

-- Create a logical backup device for the full MyNwind backup.
USE master
EXEC sp_addumpdevice 'disk', 'MyNwind_1',
DISK ='c:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\MSSQL\BA CKUP\MyNwind_1. dat'

-- Back up the full MyNwind database.
BACKUP DATABASE MyNwind TO MyNwind_1
Now restore example:
RESTORE DATABASE MyNwind FROM MyNwind_1
Hope it helps.
Good Luck.

Hi all. We have a mix of informix and mssql server and I want to know if something we do in informix has an analogous feature in MSSQL. We can define a "row type" in informix, like so: create row type name_1(fname char(20),lname char(20)); The when we create any table that includes a first and last name, we do so using this row type like so: create table sometable(name name_1, some column,...etc)

I built a PHP website on Windows 2000 (using IIS) that connects to a SQL Server 2000 database using the mssql functions. I migrated the website and the database onto a Windows 2003 machine, and now the mssql functions are significantly slower. On the Windows 2000 machine, the mssql_connect takes .03 seconds to run, and the odbc_connect takes the same amount of time. On Windows 2003, the mssql_connect takes a full second to run, but...

I installed MSSQL 2000 on my desktop (running NT 2000). No problem. I created an adp and attached it to a database within MSSQL 2000, no problem. When I go into MS Access, on another PC (running Windows XP Pro) on the same network, and try to create a using 'Project(Existing Data)' and connect it to MSSQL 2000 on my desktop, I fill in the Data Link Properties '1. Select or enter server name', no problem, '2. I click on Use Windows NT...

Hello, in order to perform backup/restore MSSQL database using SMO, one needs to reference several namespaces in a backup class : using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Common; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo; Unfortunately, MSSQL 2005 and MSSQL Express keep them in different place. For MSSQL2005 they are located in C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server \90\SDK\Assemblies and for MSSQL Express you can find them in C:

Hi everybody, I have recently been doing a conversion for my boss for a access 2000 database (both front and backend) to a MSSQL backend. I finished the conversion today (as quite a lot of the code / queries ran slow due to access running the queries locally rather than on the server). And tested it on my and my boss's machine with no problems so he gave the go ahead to update everybody to our new mssql 2000 backend with the modified...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
