Connecting an ADP to a remote MSSQL database on the same network

13 New Member
I installed MSSQL 2000 on my desktop (running NT 2000). No problem. I created an adp and attached it to a database within MSSQL 2000, no problem.

When I go into MS Access, on another PC (running Windows XP Pro) on the same network, and try to create a using 'Project(Existi ng Data)' and connect it to MSSQL 2000 on my desktop, I fill in the Data Link Properties '1. Select or enter server name', no problem, '2. I click on Use Windows NT integrated security ',no problem. On '3. Select the database on the server', I get the following message -
SQL Error [DBNETLIB]{ConnectionOpen (SECDoClientHan dshake()).]SSL Security error.

I've been to more websites then I can count to try and resolve this error to no avail. Could someone give me a simple solutions, or at least some direction on this.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Try to create DSN instead and use it instead of Server name.

Good Luck

When I mouse over MSSQL manager it says "\\S-CIS-0042" $db_host='local'; //IP/host of the database server

Hello: I'm doing some planning on a potential project with which I need some help. The database at the focus of this question is a MS Access database that is currently accessed by DAO from a local webserver. I need to access the same database remotely through TCP/IP. There will be potentially many transactions coming from both the web server and remotely, so the solution needs to keep the data safe in such an environment. However,...

Our network nazi doesn't want us running a webserver on the server that has a connection to the campus database so we created a remote object that runs as a windows service. The windows service runs on the server with a connection to the campus database and we make calls to it. My question is, how best to connect to this object via asp.net, in an aspx page?. The example I had used a console ap to connect and that works, but we want to...

Hello, I'm having a problem connecting to DB2 on a remote iSeries host from a Linux server, both of which reside on my company's internal network. I'm using the IBM Linux Client V9.1. When I try to connect to the remote host using a simple connect statement, DB2 hangs. The connection statement I'm using (I've obviously obscured the parameter names): $ ./db2 connect to DATABASENAME user USERNAME using PASSWORD;

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
