Hi everybody ! I´m maintaining a large intranet (approx 10000 concurrent users) running on one IIS box and one DB box with sqlserver 2000. Currently there is 2,5 GB Ram, 1 1400 mhz cpu and 2 scsi disks installed on the db box. Sqlserver is set to use max 1,4 GB RAM, and the sqlserver does not seem to be using it all.

Hi I am trying to design an IO subsystem for my SQL Server and for that I need to try and predict IO activity on each table in my MSSQL Database. My idea is to move the hottest tables into special disk subsystem away from the less hotter tables. So far I have gathered that we have three tables more hot than the others but I have no feeling on ratio on how hot each is and how much activity is on the less hotter tables. I need to...

Hi all. We have a mix of informix and mssql server and I want to know if something we do in informix has an analogous feature in MSSQL. We can define a "row type" in informix, like so: create row type name_1(fname char(20),lname char(20)); The when we create any table that includes a first and last name, we do so using this row type like so: create table sometable(name name_1, some column,...etc)

Hello I have recently decided to upgrade my programs to enable users to have mssql databases instead of access. I have since then run into many incompatibilities between their sql: access has IIF(x>y,a,b) whereas mssql hase case when (this already means hundreds of changes in queries) it does not have format(number,'#,##0.00') or format(date,'dd.MM.yyyy') but most surprising is following: access allows this while mssql reports error...

Hello, I have a question on importing a database from MSSQL 2000 to MSSQL 2005. I hope someone on here can help me answer it. I am trying to import a database from MSSQL 2000 to 2005. But, when I tried to import it, the data and tables came in just fine, but the properties such as Identity Values, Column Defaults, Indexes did not import. Also the stored procedures did not import. This causes a problem as I have a lot of tables and I have...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
