Hi,
I'm about to start building a simple invoicing system for internal
use, and am leaning towards using Java in some form. Thing is, there
are so many ways it could be done, I'm having a hard time deciding.
Should I make a thick Swing-based application talking directly to the
db? A server-based app with a thinner Swing gui? Use
JSP/Servlets/Struts/Tapestry? Will Java Server Faces do me any good?
JSF + NetBeans = RAD GUI-developement...

On the subject of Data Warehouses, Data Cubes & OLAP….
I would like to speak frankly about Data Warehouses, Data Cubes and
OLAP (on-line analytical processing). Has it dawned on anyone else
that these buzz words were created by some geek who decided to take a
stab at marketing? Knowing that to the backwoods manager who knows
little of technology that new innovative names for old concepts would
help to sale their products.
I mean...

I cannot find my thread now. But some answering my questions (Newbee)about
the elements needed for web app. they said they use
database - Data Layer - Business layer - Presentation Layer
I was hoping to not be too much of a pain and help me through the tunnel of
lessening darkness to examples of these layers.

I'm looking for someone to either redesign the Northwind Access
customer database supplied by Microsoft (I've modified it some myself
and have been using a similar system for two years). Alternatively,
write a completely different system using SQL instead of Access. I must
be able to modify all HTML/ASP. It's unlikely I'll be interested in
any system requiring a subscription service of some type. Every small
detail of the system need not...

I'm creating a mini-CRM system for a couple of our telesales employees.
I have very basic knowledge in Access so bear with me. :) So far I
have three tables...
Contacts (the people to call)
Sales Activity (where call activity is logged)
Topics (product to call for)
I want to be able to continually add contacts to the contact table
around different topics. Contacts can have multiple topics and sales

hi all,
I need some high level and efficient ideas on how caching should be
designed in the scenario below. The application and the cache will most
likely be in VB.NET.
I have a central interface (does not necessarily have to be a website)
that customers will access. This interface would connect to a load
balancer, which would then randomly choose one of N servers. Those
servers would run the same exact copy of an application (not yet

Hello everyone,
This is my first attempt at getting help in this manner. Please
forgive me if this is an inappropriate request.
I suddenly find myself in urgent need of instruction on how to
communicate with a MySQL database table on a web server, from inside
of my company's Access-VBA application. I know VBA pretty well but
have never before needed to do this HTTP/XML/MySQL type functions.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
