Turn Monitor off with python

2 New Member
My school computer has monitor issues (turns off every 2 minutes) and I have to constantly turn it back on. I don't have the software or the privelages to install the software needed to scan for viruses, and there are no more extra computers in class, so I'm forced to use this one. I was wondering if there was a way to turn the monitor off/on with python. I know how to set the switch (use pyHook, check if the 'esc' button is pressed, if it is, turn the monitor on) but I don't really know how to turn the monitor off.

Some sources tell me to look into ctypes and do some c functions and whatnot, while other sources tell me to use python win32 modules, but I really don't knwo where to go after that.

Hi, I am building some php script that will backup a mysql database and store it locally. This script will be run on a spare computer I have in my office. I want the results of the backup to be displayed on the screen, through a web browser, but I ran into a small problem with this: leaving the monitor on 24/7 while displaying a text report that will often look similar may have the potential to burn an image into the monitor, and ruin...

Setting: chruch multimedia computer and projection system, with 2 display monitors. The projector is connected to monitor #2. Is there some way using JavaScript I can display a ".jpg" picture on display #2? I know how to send the <form> tag to turn on/off the projector, but don't know how to put up a picture. I don't want any browser artifacts to show. Just the picture. Thanks, Don

The last time I did this was back in Visual Basic 6. Now I am using VB.NET 2005. When I use my code now, it turns off the monitor just fine. However when I move my mouse the monitor comes back on. Back in VB6, I was able to turn off the monitor and it wouldn't come back on until I issued the API command to turn in back on regardless of mouse movement. How do I accomplish this in VB.NET?

I googled and searched in archive. All I can find is finding resolution with Tkinter and pygame. Any idea to find monitor resolution with standard python module? I can check from output of: xprop -root _NET_DESKTOP_GEOMETRY(CARDINAL) . The problem is when you use Beryl or Xgl, it is not correct anymore because Beryl or Xgl set this value from amount of workspaces multiplied by monitor or screen resolution.

Hey Everyone! I've got a question regarding the capabilities of python in a real time environment. I'll start by saying I'm a little bit flaky when it comes to terminology, so please correct me or ask where it seems I'm not beings specific or using the wrong wording. I am looking into a project for the company I work for. Essentially it involves setting up a real time monitor / signal injector in between a CPU board and a system...

I am developing an application that will show movies. When you wach a movie, you do not want the Power Option "Turn off monitor" to be anabled. Is there anyway to fix this from VB.net? (note that I am not talking about the screen saver, that is something else). I'm very thankfull for answers, but plea, no guesses this time.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
