Hi, I am building some php script that will backup a mysql database
and store it locally. This script will be run on a spare computer I
have in my office. I want the results of the backup to be displayed
on the screen, through a web browser, but I ran into a small problem
with this: leaving the monitor on 24/7 while displaying a text report
that will often look similar may have the potential to burn an image
into the monitor, and ruin it.
Is there a way to have the php script "wake up" the computer during
business hours, so that the computer goes from a state of a
screensaver or turned off monitor to an "awake" monitor? 1 2008

If it is a Linux computer, yes, I think. If it is a windoze computer,
No, I don't think so. This thread has been closed and replies have been disabled. Please start a new discussion. Similar topics |

Hello everyone,
does anyone know a way to stop the screensaver under linux from
starting up while a certain process is running?
I need this because I experience a memory leak while recording
wav-files every time the screensaver starts.
It is a Tkinter application, btw.
Any help would be very appreciated.
Thanks

I am trying to capture an event when the screensaver starts. I have code
working on Windows XP etc when the Password/Welcome Screen is enabled
. Using the Fast User Switching Notifications.
However I am unable to detect the screensaver starting when the screensaver
password option is disabled. When using the WndProc Overrides I am unable to
capture the screensaver event unless the application is active .
Thank you in advance for any...

Does anyone know what the command line argumentto launch a
screensaver's options/configuration dialog is on Windows XP Pro?
From most of the example source code I can find on the web, it would
seem to be '/c' but that does not seem to work for the screensaver I
have written. I've tested my code and if '/c' is the first argument
then the options dialog is launched but Windows XP does not seem to be
supplying the '/c' argument when I...

I have been trying to build a screensaver that will connect to a database
and display specific data depending on the user that is logged in. I have
managed to get a simple data access screensaver to work, however, i can't
get the application to work with some prebuilt assemblies i have. Also,
when the screensaver is running under the windows screensaver settings it
also will not access the config file.
Any pointers would be greatly...

I am in the learning fazes of writing a c# screensaver that will take
into account a second monitor. the basic code I have has a problem and
i am not sure what it might be. What it is doiing is executing on the
primary screen and on that instance Close(); launches on the second
screen.
the code is:

My school computer has monitor issues (turns off every 2 minutes) and I have to constantly turn it back on. I don't have the software or the privelages to install the software needed to scan for viruses, and there are no more extra computers in class, so I'm forced to use this one. I was wondering if there was a way to turn the monitor off/on with python. I know how to set the switch (use pyHook, check if the 'esc' button is pressed, if it is,...

you do not want the Power Option "Turn off monitor" to be anabled. Is there
anyway to fix this from VB.net? (note that I am not talking about the screen
saver, that is something else).
I'm very thankfull for answers, but plea, no guesses this time.

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
