Learning Python, 2'nd Edition, O'Reilly

Does anyone know when this is due to be released? I am assuming that
this version will cover Python 2.3, and be the first book to fully do
so.

Not exactly, but the late-October-to-November
timeframe is as good a guess as any. Last I
heard, it's now in the production pipeline.

It will be a 2.3 book, despite what some of the
marketing might say (we started it awhile ago).

For a few more words, here's a web page I
posted in response to email queries:

Cheers,

According to Amazon, it should be available 1st October (I don't know how
reliable their predictions normally are, though).

Thank you so much for your kind reply, Mr. Lutz. I look forward to the
new edition of Learning Python eagerly. I know it will become a
classic snapshot of a most significant time in Python's history, and
will help to further popularize the language.

Of course, Python in a Nutshell also, already, documents most of
Python's newer features, and I am most profitably continuing to peruse
both my copy of the Nutshell and my copy of the Cookbook, so I will
not be wasting my (little but precious) free time until the Learning
2'nd Edition arrives.

Learning python second edition was first supposed to arrive at the beginning of November. But the date have been relayed many times to finally be in December. Now, we are the 17th of December and he is still not there. I wanted to have that book just in time to read it in my Christmas vacation, but I'm not sure anymore that I'll get it for this time. If someone at O'Reilly or the author of the book or anyone that know more than me on...

Hi there... I have been looking at learning Python, so far it looks like an absolutely grat language. I am having trouble finding some free resources to learn Python from. I am on windows and the only experience I have with programming is with PHP. I have been trying to look at the free online book "Dive Into Python" but this is far too difficult for me as it explains it in caparison with C++ or Java.

Hi experts, What's considered the best book to learn javascript? I searched this newsgroup but the postings are over five years old, so is there a good book to learn. I've searched Amazon and found that the best rated is, among others, John Pollock, "JavaScript: A Beginner's Guide." I am not a big fan of the O'Reilly books, to be honest. I do know C and C++ but no Java, so would Pollock's book is the best starting place?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
