Is there any way of getting scrollback to work in MacPython 2.3b2? At
present, when I try and scroll back to re-issue a past command using
the up arrow key, I simply get a series of "^[[A" symbols. Very
annoying, Any tips most appreciated.

I am a just a dabbler in programming, but I'd like to make some simple
cross-platform tools for generating webpages, as well as for text
munging. One thing I need is a Mac OS 9/Windows GUI solution. I
thought that Tkinter could provide this, but I'm having trouble
getting the simple test script from Learning Python p.22 to work under
Mac OS 9 (9.2.2, on a 400 MHz PowerBook firewire/2000, 192 MB ram).
Starting with a clean install of...

When I drop a script on the BuildApplication tool, I get an error. It
looks like there's a typo in BuildApplication.py, but after fixing the
typo, I still get the same error. I guess the tool has its own compiled
version of the file or something...?
The error is:
-------
File "Plataea:MacPython-OS9 2.3:Mac:scripts:BuildApplication.py", line

I am running Python 2.3 on Mac OS 10.3.
My problem is that applets don't seem to work. If I run a python
script in the terminal, everything is fine. If I run the same script
as an applet, nothing happens. The applet starts up, but dies after a
second or two.
I used applets quite frequently unter OS9 and never had a problem with
them. Has anyone any idea why applets on OS X don't work the way they
did in OS 9?

I upgraded to Panther a month ago and just upgraded to MacPython 10.3
Addons (as per Jack Jansen's page - thanks, Jack).
But now my programs can't even find standard modules. from Numeric
import * brings up the error window: Can't find module Numeric. Even
trig functions sine and cosine generate the same type of error. I've
looked over the FAQ and can't see any answers (maybe I missed
something). I'm guessing this is a Path...

Anyone have advice for importing the logging module using MacPython 2.4.3?
MacPython installs the logging module in:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.4/lib/logging/
There's an __init__.py there and everything, but this directory is not
in sys.path. I add it to sys.path as follows:
/Library/Frameworks/Python.framework/Versions/2.4/lib/logging

After much wailing and gnashing of teeth the past couple of days, I managed
to move (most of?) the content from the MacPython wiki to the main Python
wiki (*). All pages were created as subpages of
http://wiki.python.or/moin/MacPython
The motivation for this rather hasty move was that the MacPython wiki was
running an ancient version of MoinMoin and got spammed heavily. Because of
its age and vulnerability it was simply too hard to...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

In this session, we are pleased to welcome a new presenter, Adolph Dupré who will be discussing some powerful techniques for using class modules.
He will explain when you may want to use classes instead of User Defined Types (UDT). For example, to manage the data in unbound forms.
Adolph will...
