small outsource project: change host for gnuTellaVision

This is about a small subcontracting project. This is an interesting
project which produces interactive graphs of the gnutella network. We
are updating a python project written by students at Berkeley a few
years ago. This project is to switch from an out-dated data host to a
new one.

The following is a link to the source code for a python project which
makes radial maps of gnutella hosts:

http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/%7Erach...tv/source.html

The code theoretically works, and the maps look like this:

http://www.sims.berkeley.edu/~ping/gtv/

But the current code uses gnutellahosts.c om. That host is not longer
active. The project is to make this code work again by using a new host
cache. Tasks:

1) Review the code to see the type of data the script requires.

2) Change the host from "gnutellahosts. com" to something else. See:
http://gcachescan.jonatkins.com/
http://loot.alumnigroup.org/

NOTE: There is an alternative version of this project which you can
propose. You can propose bid to instead remove ALL gnutella-related
code, and generate a simple random node structure. We are more
interested in the animation and layout code than the gnutella code.

If you are interested, you can contact me at googlePython at ilibi dot
com , or you can see a posting of this project on the following job
board: http://www.scriptlance.com/projects/1129015210.shtml

I created a ASP.NET web setup project with the project name "Setup". I noticed that this name will be used as the default Virtual Directory name during deployment. I'd like to know whether we can change this default value while preserving the project name? Thanks in advance

Hi, Ok, I open Visual Studio .NET 2003. New C# ASP.NET Web Service project. Everything works fine. When I'm done I close Visual Studio, go to the web server home directory and make a copy of the folder of the existing project to other one named different because I want to make some changes without affecting the initial project. But what's my surprise that when I try to open the copied project all of errors appear. Why Microsoft didn't...

Hi, I just installed the VS.Studio 2005 Team Edition for Developper and encountered severe problems with debugging ASP.NET 2.0 projects. Even newly empty created ASP 2.0 projects can't debug (setting breakpoint in page_load()). I'm getting the following message: "Unable to start debugging on the web server. An error occurred that usually indicates a corrupt installation (code 0x80004002). If the problem persists,

(my original post was inaccurate but this post accurately describes what I think is a very bad vs2005 bug) short description... Deleting a dataset and recreating it from the dataadapter causes VS.Net 2005 to render the associated .resx and .vb file inoperative. detail... I converted an asp 1.1 vb.net app using the vs2005 conversion wizard and then retested the app after conversion.

I am trying to open web project in VS 2003 using the File Share method. VS is running on XP Pro (Host) and I am accessing the root web of an XP Pro install on Virtual PC (Server) running on the same machine. I have the loopback adapter running on the Host. The Host is sharing it's Internet connectivity with the loopback adapter and the Server is using the loopback it for Internet connectivity. All the networking stuff is working fine.

Prior to VS2005 I configured my applications via the appSettings section of the app.config file. When I developed a class library, I used ConfigurationManager.AppSettings(settingName) syntax and the compiler didn't care that no such settings existed yet. The settings were ultimately managed in the app.config file of the host applicaton that used the classes in the library. I'm not sure how to handle configuration settings for a class...

(The "C++ Grammer" thread in comp.lang.c++.moderated prompted this post). It would be more than a little bit nice if C++ was much "cleaner" (less complex) so that it wasn't a major world wide untaking to create a toolchain for it. Way back when, there used to be something called "Small C". I wonder if the creator(s) of that would want to embark on creating a nice little Small C++ compiler devoid of C++ language features that make...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
