App servers such as quixote, webware and skunkweb (just to name a
few) offer a clean environment to develop Python webapps. I have some
problems, however, understanding their security model.
My objective is to host webapps from different people on a single
Linux server; because of that, I want to be sure that one webapp
cannot interfere with another.
My first attempt at privilege separation went through users & groups.
Unfortunately...

After working in c# for a year, the only conclusion I can come to is
that I wish I knew c.
All I need is Linux, the gnu c compiler and I can do anything.
Web services are just open sockets hooked up to interfaces.
The Gtk is more than enough gui.

Hello. We recently designed a webapp and because most HQ staff use FF,
we designed it based on FF. Now we extend this webapp to allow
sub-offices in other cities to use the webapp, they use IE, and the look
is terrible, CSS positions are very wrong.
I can find all the difference between IE and mozilla and correct every
positioning by providing two stylesheets for Mozilla and IE. But this is
a lot of work. I wonder if there are existing...

I have a webapp (actually several) who's folder is setup to use HTTP
Authentication through IIS (not using any .NET Authentication in the
application itself).
Everytime I open up the solution in VS2003, it prompts me for the
username/password - - for each webapp even though it is the same
username/password for both (and on the same server). Is there anyway I can
include this login information in the project files so I do not have to...

Hi,
I'm creating a CMS that I would like to be plug-in based with different
plugins handling different kinds of content.
What I really want is to be able to load/unload plugins on the fly
without restarting the application.
What I did was to create an AppDomain that loaded the plugins and
everything was great, until I tried to pass something else that strings
between the domains...

I was under the impression that creating the app_offline.htm file at the
root of the webapp would cause all handles to be closed so that the app could
be removed. Unfortunately, this isn't the case. One handle remains open.
Debugging shows that it's actually the IIS cache and not ASP.NET that owns
this handle. During IIS shutdown, the handle is closed with the following
stack trace:
ChildEBP RetAddr

I just installed the VS 2005 "Team Suite" and am able to config and run
"intrumentation" profiles on my webapp.
Question is, can I instrument a very small subset of my webapp, a call into
one page?
I have tried attaching the profiler to aspnet_wp, but then I only get
vanilla asp/.net info. Do I.. hmmm... maybe need to start the webapp in the
vs web debugger, and attach to that process with the profiler at the
appropriate time?

Hi,
In a webapp I'm writing I need to know if another webapp is running
(both of which are asp.net), is there a way that you can check for the
presence of another webapp?
The problem is that my first webapp sends an invite to users to visit
another webapp, this second webapp can be published in any kind of url
or domain.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
