What php frameworks are people using?

I'm just starting to write a php web application, coming from the java
world. I'd like to find some framework that makes most of the usual
problems easier (session, error, i18n, templating, etc.), there seems
to be too many of these, I tried to use BinaryCloud, but am having some
problems. I do like the Propel OR framework (I use hibernate in java).
I've heard php.mvc, etc.. Are there any reputable reviews/comparisons
of these frameworks? I hate to get to a framework that haven't stood
the passage of time, and I'd like to use PHP 5.

Thanks.

I've been reading a lot about Seaside <http://www.seaside.st/> lately and before that Struts <http://struts.apache.org/>. Is there a predominant framework for PHP that provides many (most, more?) of the features of either Seaside or Struts (or any other examples you may suggest)?

What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is it? This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is also talking about Ruby. So it seems that Ruby has the potential to compete with and displace Python. I'm curious on what basis it...

Hi all, In your opinion: what is current status of frameworks for PHP and which one would you choose? I am looking for an all-purpose, MVC-based framework I could learn and use for all the applications I'll be working on in the future. Something that is currently stable and documented enough to be used in a commercial world (but it doesn't have to drive space shuttles yet;-)), and has no limitations whatsoever on the view...

I've been trying to learn Ruby On Rails, because of it;s ease of use as a web framwework. I am primarily a Java programmer, but the web Frameworks there - Struts, Java Server Faces, are arcane as hell compared to Rails. Additionally, Rails bakes Ajax code right into the output pages. So it occurs to me -- surely there must be a php-based Web Framework that is as easy to use as Rails, and incorporates Ajax into the output automatically...

I'm new to PHP, I already learned the basics of the language and built some little app's for practice. I have a critical dilemma, soon enough, I probably start to develop real-world applications, fully working web-sites for paying costumers. I have 2 options for doing this: writing everything with plain PHP, or using some PHP framework. I don't want to choose something and the realize that the other is batter. I want to get used for...

The bartender said I have to talk. Actually, she didn't. Python's a darned good comp. language. Versatile, elegant, refined. The Pythoneers on the newsgroup are half-way decent, too. Attentive, judicious. I feel like there's a "but", but that's probably my own traumatic past personal life. Besides, there just was. Anybody not get out much?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...
