PHP / ODBC / d/b win & LInux

Bob
OK, PHP newbie here, did a search, but I can't see the forest for
the trees now. I need a sanity check to see if I've got this right.
Short answers will do fine.

1. PHP includes a native ODBC module that is available without any
extra installs i.e. it's always there, correct ?

2. I can use PHP on the MS-windows platform to access any ODBC
compliant d/b that there is a driver for, correct ?

3. I need to make sure there's some sort of basic ODBC support
installed on Linux machines such as iODBC.org's module if I want
to move my development to Linux, correct ?

4. Is there an ODBC interface that is more popular than iODBC with
the Linux hosting crowd ?

5. Is ODBC the recommended way to go for PHP to d/b access or is there
a more native PHP method that folks like to use ?

Thanks,
Bob

Hi, at work we use a solid database and i need to develop an application that accesses it. Problem is the drivers: i only have some dll's lying around and jar. On winsdows i could get by by using ODBC and the dll's to access the solid database but i want to eventually run it on a linux server. Solid doesn't seem to have a driver specifically for Linux so i'm stuck here. Is there any way i can still use Linux and have access to solid?...

Hi, Quick question, We have a Cobalt Qube 3 Server running Linux & Chilisoft asp. At the moment my asp applications pull data from the installed MySQL database which is fed data via MS Access (via ODBC) which is used as our in-house front-end between 3 staff doing data entry. We are now possibly looking to implement an ERP/MRP solution to run

I'm getting my feet wet with making Python talk to MySQL via ODBC. I started on Windows, and it went smoothly enough due to the ODBC stuff that apparently is native to Python at least on windows (I've been following ch. 13 of Mark Hammond's py on win32 book). But now I'm trying to do equivalent stuff on linux (Fedora Core 3) with python 2.3.5 and mysql. I'd like to stick with packages that are native to python, rather than relying on...

Hello All, Whether supports DB2 UDB 8.2 FP7 for Linux the ODBC-driver ? If yes, whether that enters this driver into delivery DB2 UDB 8.2 FP7 for Linux ? If it is possible, bring please an example of customization of the ODBC-driver for DB2 under Linux. -- Best Regards, Stalker

We have a webserver, Apache, hosted on Linux and we use php as the scripting language. Now, I am developing a form which will fill up a Microsoft Access database (on a Windows machine). For this one needs to use an ODBC connection. Now php has default ODBC support (http://us2.php.net/odbc ), but I do not think this supports MS Access. My question is what driver manager/drivers do i need to install for this: one option was unixODBC, but...

I am attempting to set up myODBC 3.51 on Win XP Pro to a remote MySQL Linux server. I get the following error: Access denied for user: 'username@ipaddress.serviceprovider.net' (Using password: YES) I had MySQL installed locally for testing, and myODBC worked fine. All the other apps I use locally (Dreamweaver, PHPmyAdmin, MySQL Front) work great on the remote server with the same login info. This is my thought (patience, please). My...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
