After a lot of thought and research, and playing with FreeTDS and
InlineTDS, as well as various ODBC connections, I have determined that
the fastest and cheapest way to get up and going with PHP on Linux,
connecting to MS SQL Server, unless it was already pre-installed by
your Linux installation, is to build your own multithreaded TCP socket
server on Windows and connect to it through the socket API in PHP on
Linux (if you have installed...

Hello,
I need to read data from a MS Access database.
The program (reader) is installed on a linux box and
is written in python langage.
The database is MS Access 2002 installed on a Win XP box
networked with the linux box.
Is it possible for python/linux to read data from MS Access
Database ?

I am currently tasked with connecting Python CGI programs, under
Apache2 / Linux, to SQL Server on Windows 2000.
The latest MSSQL module from
http://www.object-craft.com.au/projects/mssql/ (0.09) will not (for
me, at least) compile on Debian.
The next version of the module (0.08) will compile, but raises a
MemoryException whenever I return varchar fields. Hopeless. It also
segfaults (!) whenever I use datetime fields.

I'm getting my feet wet with making Python talk to MySQL via ODBC. I
started on Windows, and it went smoothly enough due to the ODBC stuff
that apparently is native to Python at least on windows (I've been
following ch. 13 of Mark Hammond's py on win32 book).
But now I'm trying to do equivalent stuff on linux (Fedora Core 3) with
python 2.3.5 and mysql. I'd like to stick with packages that are
native to python, rather than relying on...

Hello all,
We need to access MS SQL 2000 database from RHEL platforms. I've
tested unixODBC and Easysoft ODBC-ODBC Bridge (under trial license).
They work together pretty well. Unfortunately Easysoft ODBC-ODBC
Bridge is not a free solution. Anybody have any experiences with other
ODBC solutions that can make MS SQL accessible to unix? I've heard of
iodbc but without any hands-on details.
Thanks in advance for sharing your...

Hello,
Here is what we need to do. On a Linux Apache server, we need to
write PHP or Perl scripts to pull the data directly from the Access
database and display extracted data on the web. Anybody have done that
and would like to share how?
I've looked dbmtools. But it seems to be a command line based tool.
Also it's good for transferring data from Access to other databases,
like mysql, db2, etc. I've also tested Easysoft...

I need help to connect DBDesigner4 linux in ODBC to postgres.
I'm having a problem connecting to a remote Postgres db using ODBC from
my Debian Linux laptop. I've got ODBC set up (UnixODBC). In DBDesigner
I'm simply trying to set up the connection using the ODBC datasource,
but I keep getting the following error message:
"Connection to database failed.

I'd like to connect from any Linux machine to the DB2 on a Linux server
via an IP adddress (or any available method that allows us to connect
to DB2 from another machine). I know we can do it in Java via JDBC in
the following fashion (suppose my IP address is xx.x.x.xxx):
sun.jdbc.odbc.JdbcOdbcDriver=com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver
sun.jdbc.odbc.ConnectionUrl=jdbc:db2://xx.x.x.xxx:50000/mydb

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Hello
I'm a network technician in training and I need your help.
I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs.
The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols.
I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
