ASP, ODBC & Cobalt Qube Server....

Hi,

Quick question,

We have a Cobalt Qube 3 Server running Linux & Chilisoft asp.
At the moment my asp applications pull data from the installed MySQL
database which is fed data via MS Access (via ODBC) which is used as
our in-house front-end between 3 staff doing data entry.

We are now possibly looking to implement an ERP/MRP solution to run
our head office & manufacturing site. The data would therefore come
from the new software and no longer from MS Access.

I can export the data via ODBC in windows into MySQL, but I cannnot
Import/link the tables back into the software as I do now with MS
Access to ensure that the web apps data is live as of the moment you
enter information. I would therefore have to do updates several times
a day which is a bit messy.

As the asp pages run from our Cobalt server, how is it possible to set
up an ODBC connection on the Linux server when there is no interface
like we have in Windows. I am trying to get the asp pages to connect
to their database wich is somewhere else on our network, not the
server.

Is this possible ?
Appreciate your thoughts....
David.

This would make sense to be asking in a Linux or Cobalt newsgroup or
support forum, since it isn't ASP related.

IIRC (you didn't quote your original post, so excuse me if this is way off
base) you are asking how to set up an ODBC connection on a Linux box. While
the connection may be used in ASP the question is not about ASP (and many
here do not generally attempt to answer questions about ChiliSoft ASP
regardless).

Hi, I have a local user on our network running MS Access 2003 (on Win XP Home), which needs to connect to a Back-End MySQL DB on our Cobalt Qube 3 Server. I installed the correct software to run the Access on their Win XP OS, and installed the ODBC MySQL Driver 3.51. When I test the connection in the ODBC panel, CONNECTED ! Then I open MS Access, and great, the app works.

I'm not especially new to databases and I have used ODBC before with other data sources, but I cannot seem to get Access 2003 to talk to MySQL 4.0.15. I have MySQL running with new tables defined, but I cannot get a connection to those tables via ODBC using MyODBC 3.51. Can anyone point the way? Many thanks,

Hello: I'm doing some planning on a potential project with which I need some help. The database at the focus of this question is a MS Access database that is currently accessed by DAO from a local webserver. I need to access the same database remotely through TCP/IP. There will be potentially many transactions coming from both the web server and remotely, so the solution needs to keep the data safe in such an environment. However,...

Hi, I created an MS Access 2000 front end a long time ago. We use it every day and everything works great. This MS Access DB is held in a folder on our Cobalt Qube server. On this server we also have MySQL installed. I have allready hapilly exported some of the MS Access tables into MySQL and import-linked back. Again everything works great.

Hi, I have an MS Access database in which the tables have been exported to a MySQL DB on a Cobalt Qube 3 server and then import linked back into MS Access. This was all done via an User DSN (ODBC) I created on my local machine. I then put my front-end on a shared directory on our network. I have one other user who needs access. I added a shortcut from this front-end onto their desktop, but whenever I run MS Access, it says it

I have an asp.net app that I've localized using satellite assemblies. It works wonderfully, even for displaying dates. My problem comes when I try to use one of those dates in a SQL query. I have an SQL like "SELECT * FROM Table WHERE date < @Date" I make a parameter for it as type SQLDBType.DateTime. This works great for US dates (12/31/04, for instance). But, the equivalent Frnech date (31/12/04) throws an excption with the...

I am attempting to set up myODBC 3.51 on Win XP Pro to a remote MySQL Linux server. I get the following error: Access denied for user: 'username@ipaddress.serviceprovider.net' (Using password: YES) I had MySQL installed locally for testing, and myODBC worked fine. All the other apps I use locally (Dreamweaver, PHPmyAdmin, MySQL Front) work great on the remote server with the same login info. This is my thought (patience, please). My...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
