Hi all,
I have a simple PHP page that takes values from a form and puts them in a
database (MySQL).
The code is in a file test.php, which I have typed in at the bottom of
this post (please excuse any typos). This page is not a production page -
I created it just to try and solve the £ sign problem I am having.
When I put the pound sign (£) into the input box and submit the form,

Hi there,
I am using the .Net XML Serialization classes to create XML
strings. This has been working fine up until the point that one of the
strings contained a pound sterling symbol. The application that is
processing the output complains about the character. Both the strings and
the application are using UTF-8. If you view the text in Notepad the pound
symbol looks fine, but if you view the hex, there is a character preceding
the...

Hi,
'C' says \ is the escape character to be used when characters are
to be interpreted in an uncommon sense, e.g. \t usage in printf(),
but for printing % through printf(), i have read that %% should be used.
Wouldn't it have been better (from design perspective) if the same
escape character had been used in this case too.
Forgive me for posting without verfying things with any standard
compiler, i don't have the means for now.

When using StreamReader/Writer to process an input text file to an output
text file the pound signs (£) simply disappear. Sample code:
StreamReader sr = new StreamReader("input.txt");
StreamWriter sw = new StreamWriter("output.txt");
string Line;
char delimiter = {'*'};
while((Line = sr.ReadLine()) != null)
{
string Fields;

I never truly understand how a macro with ## work in C, for example,
if I define
#define X X##_YZ
what and how does this translated into after compilation?
Can't find similar info. googling, would appreciate some detailed

I would like to print two reports a once. The first report is a sign sheet; the second is an order form. The sign sheet contains the same information as the order form but has a different layout.
The subform sometimes contains multiple records, currently if I have four records in the subform, and when I print these reports, it will print the first four signs followed by the four order form records.
If I want ten copies each of the order...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
