Pass unix variable to sqlplus

Oracle 8.1.7.4 on Hp Unix 11i
I am attempting to pass unix parameters on to sql plus
I did read on technet that with 9i it is very straightforward

Example script name whoisit
Pass sid 23
whoisit 23
returns
Vincento .....

Thanks for your time

Got it to work
sqlplus user/password @"full path of XXX.sql file name" $1
in the sql where you are expecting the $1 parameter use &1 rather
than &variable you will normally used

I am still a noob at the whole .NET, but I have a question and hope someone can help me out. I am taking user input, then want to query a database and return the results to either a datagrid, or a dynamically created table. I want to be able to pass a variable to the SQL command that I have created, but I don't know how to get the format right. Here is a snippet of my code I know that the format of my SQL command is totally wrong after...

Hi, I'm trying to do something very simple...or at least it should be. I have created a host page (gen.aspx) and a very simple user control (us.ascx). The corresponding code-behind files are gen.aspx.vb and uc.ascx.vb. With simple html or self contained vb in the user control, everything is fine and dandy. So the next stage is to pass back a simple variable from the user control to the host page. I used VS.NEt to create the files.

I've searched everywhere for this but I'm not sure exactly what to search for. What I am trying to do is pass a variable to a php script via the URL. However, I don't want to use the standard "?name=value format." I want to either pass the variable as "value website.com" or "website.com/value" where the script is stored in some directory "website.com/script/index.php" and the value gets stored in a variable declared within my php script.

Hi. Sorry for what is perhaps a neophyte question: is it possible to pass a variable to a PHP script from inside another PHP piece of code? For instance, the file test.php (which of course resides on a webserver that supports PHP) is as such: <?php echo("<i>the variable abc contains " . $_GET . "</i>"); ?>

Hi, I am new to using VBA, and have been working with DAO Recordsets. I'm working on a little problem, and think that DAO Recordsets are the solution. I've been playing around with them to try and get it working, and have the following code, which works perfectly: Function ReadCourseContent() Dim db As DAO.Database Dim rst As DAO.Recordset Set db = CurrentDb() Set rst =...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
