Pass ASP variable to Execute in a .bat file

I'm using ASP to run a batch file. I need to know how to pass a variable to
this .bat file.

Is this possible? I'm using the following code but need to know how to pass
ASP variable.

set wshell = server.createob ject("wscript.s hell")
wshell.run "c:\file.ba t"
set wshell = nothing

Any ideas? Or a work around?

Cory

Okay, I did use the below code from your web site. I put the variable 'x' in
the .bat file and it did not work.

I am a little slow to catch on... But I cannot quite see how to get a
variable through to this file.bat i.e. x=value1. How can the bat file
recognize the value of x?

set wshell = server.createob ject("wscript.s hell")
wshell.run "c:\file.ba t"
set wshell = nothing

Can you briefly explain?

Thank you,
Cory

I am simply trying to pass a variable to another page. I know my second page can do Request("str") to retrieve that variable, but how do I pass it in the first place? I tried Server.Execute("P2.asp?str="hello") but I get errors. I tried Response.Redirect("P2.asp?str="hello") but the variable is empty I tried setting variables like you would in VB: str="hello" Server.Execute("P2.asp")

Let's assume that we have a database on some SQL server (let it be MS SQL Server) and that we want to execute some parameterized query as a pass.through query. How can we pass parameters to the server ? Is it possible to use parameters in pass-through queries ? An additional question: Is it possible to connect to a database on MySQL or PostgreSQL using ADO ? Is it possible to execute pass-through queries with parameters, using ADO...

Architecture: Access 2003 client, Oracle 9i repository, no Access security in place, ODBC linked tables. 100 or so users, in 3 or 4 groups (Oracle roles actually): Admins, Updaters and ReadOnly. Each group sees a different set of menu options when they open the client and login to Oracle. For the sake of speed I use pass-through queries here and there for updates and deletes. I update their SQL property in code and execute them.

I know I can use the querystring mechanism to pass simple parameters to a Page using Response.Redirect, but Im having problems getting this to work using Server.Transfer or Server.Execute - is this by design ? What is a simple alternative for passing optional parameters to a Page using Server.Transfer or Server.Execute? I don't want to store a session variable and check that in the called page - too flaky.

Hello, I'm fairly new to the concept of running action pass through queries (insert, update, etc.) from Access 2000. I have a SQL Server 2000 database and I'm using a Access 2K database as my front end. I'm using a blank pass through query which gets the Transact-SQL part inserted from a button in my form. After inserting the Transact-SQL code into the pass through query, I 'open the recordset' to make the query run. However,...

Hi, I got a pass-through query (that takes about 15 mins to process) I would like to integrate variables to it. IE: something simple: Select EmplID from empl_Lst where empl_lst.timestamp between !! And !! Not sure how to do so (should it be a query in Access or a macro) The connection would be ODBC.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
