[C#] Mute sound of external program

5 New Member
Hi!

I got this game I'm playing, and it contains this really annoying music, and I like to listen to real music while playing games. Of some reason, theres no mute button I can use to turn of this music. So I was looking for any way to mute external programs programmaticall y, using C#.

Anyone please?

Thank you in advance :)

PS: Please excuse eventual poor English, as I am Norwegian :)

Hmm. Pretty sure if there was a way it would be with the Win32_API. Maybe something with MCI even?

I think with the program ProcessExplorer you can look at what DLLs/files/etc the game has open and close the handles to them. That would make the game pretty unstable I am sure.

It's my understanding in order to mute the pc microphone from c# requires DirectX 9. Could anyone confirm this for me, and provide examples or technicle refrences where it may be discussed? Thanks, Ken Lemieux

I'm putting together a C# .Net forms project on win2k. The application requires some sort of horn sound. I've never implemented any audio in .Net, so I'm not sure how best to accomplish this. It's an application that works with a wireless barcode scanner, in a warehouse environment. The user could be potentially 20 or 30 ft. from the PC. If the user scans something improperly, the app should sound a 'horn' to notify the user. I'm trying...

Using VS 2003, VB. Net, MSDE... Usining task sheduler, I wish to mute the volume in the .bat file that task scheduler runs (windows XP Pro). I don't see anyway to do this via a .bat line command (if there is, please let me know). So the next option would be to write a small .net program that would do it and run that via task scheduler. How would you mute the volume in code in the vb.net program? I'm not quire sure where to get...

Hi there, I am implementing a mute button on my application which successfully changes the mute status of the mixer in windows. I would like to know if there is a way to detect the mixer being muted from outside the app (by the user or another program), so I can display this in my own app. Is there some windows message which is broadcast when a mixer is muted? Thanks,

I know that an internal sound card has to be one listed as for a specific mother board. However, does this rule apply to external sound cards? I use a satellite A75-s2112 toshiba laptop, intel pent 4, windows xp, and forget where to find the motherboard info. I just remember that it only had Realtek AC'97 sound drivers that work with it, when I did that research. My Realtek AC '97sound card drive keeps malfunctioning such that I'd have no...

I created a video using a pre-made fla skin that I edited so that it only shows the play/pause, stop, seek, mute, and volume features. It all works fine, however I was asked to have it set that the video will be automatically muted. Setting the volume to go to 0 is fine, but I can't figure out how to set the mute button to automatically go to it's "muted" state and return to it's "non-muted" state when clicked and rest the volume... any...

I want to Play a specific sound file in my code when a certain event happens, but i don't know how. I can play the system sounds in my program and I know how to start the media player to play an mp3 but I want to be able to play the sound file without an external player. Is there any other way of playing a sound file in vb.net code when an event is fired?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
