C# Services/Hiding

2 New Member
Hey,
I'm creating a app in C# to monitor my kids computer usage. I right now have a timer running. It at the correct time brings up MessageBox.Show 's and tells him to get off. Now, this has worked for a while but he has figured out how to ctrl alt del and end the process. He also knows how to get in doss. I am trying to figure out a way to stop him.

I was thinking of setting up a service and monitoring the app, but that's not fool proof. I don't even know how to automatically setup a service.

I was also thinking mabye hiding the process from task manager.

thanks

There is an acticex called ' winPadlock ' . Using that u can hide that frm task manager. If u find any problem on that PM me. Me too had not yet used that.

Thats exactly what I was looking for thanks. Now, for WinPadLock to work, I must have the user install the OCX right? is there any way I can build it into the application? Will this WinPadLock be picked up as a virus?

And I also see this is for VB. Is there a C# version?

Thanks

What is the purpose of hiding intead of overriding a method? I have googled the question but haven't found anything that makes any sense of it. In the code below, the only difference is that when the Poodle is upcast to the Dog (in its wildest dreams) it then says "bow wow" where the bernard always says "woof" (see code). Basically, it...

Hi, I know there exists a good reason why the designers of c++ decided that function hiding should exist. But I don't know why. Can anybody provide a good reason/example of a case where function hiding saves the day. I know there exists one, I'd just like to hear about it. thanks and have a nice day.

Hi all, I have been wondering for a while why function hiding (in a derived class) exists in C++, e.g. why when writing class Base { void foo( int ) {} }; class Derived: public Base { void foo( char const ) {} };

Hi folks, So I have implemented a Web service which provides several Web Methods. Before the client can use the WebMethods they must first be authenticated and authorized i.e. they login, obtain a string 'ticket' and then must use this ticket to make subsequent calls to the Web Methods. Users are validated by checking to see if they exist...

Hi, first, python is one of my fav languages, and i'll definitely keep developing with it. But, there's 1 one thing what I -really- miss: data hiding. I know member vars are private when you prefix them with 2 underscores, but I hate prefixing my vars, I'd rather add a keyword before it. Python advertises himself as a full OOP language,...
