professional or standard edition?

Hi,

I'm about to download the Visual Studio 2008 Beta 2 development tool and I'm
wondering which one I should download, the professional or standard. It is
not clear to me what the difference is. The "Overview of Visual Studio 2008"
does not seem to indicate what the difference is and I can't seem to find a
FAQ on the topic. Aside from being over 4 times the size, what is the
difference between the two?

Thanks,
Thomas Magma

I believe Professional has unit testing in whereas Standard doesn't.
I'd expect to see more designers and the like in the Professional
edition. I know that the Professional edition includes the MSDN
installation - I don't know about Standard on that score.

If you've got a fast enough connection and enough disk space, I'd go
with Professional, at least for the beta.

Sure why not. I'm downloading the 3.13 GB file as we speak. Everyone around
me is wondering why the internet is so slow today. :)

I've checked the paths and the .vcproj files are all where it expects them to be and I've also...

Hi, What's the difference between C# 2002 Standard and Professional versions? I am currently using C#.net 2002 Standard Edition and would like to know how to create deployment / installation packages of my applications but can't find any information on using my current installation to do this. Can 2002 Standard even create deployment / install packages? Do I need to upgrade to the Professional version?

Appologies if someone thinks this is slightly off topic, but I think viewers of this newsgroups are best placed to answer my question - which is what are the main differences between VB.Net Professional and VB.Net Standard Edition. (Yes I have read the page on the microsoft site about VB.Net Standard and the differences with Professional but it is rather vague.) I use VB.Net Professional at work. I have a friend who I am hoping to do...

I'm currently looking at buying a number of Visual Studio 2005 licenses. Looking at the Standard and Professional versions, it seems to me that we do not need any of the features that are missing from the Standard edition - we do not really do any enterprise, database, XML kind of stuff. The only difference that worries me (see http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/products/compare/default.aspx) is under " User experience" where it says...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
