Visual Studio 2005 Standard vs. Professional

I'm currently looking at buying a number of Visual Studio 2005 licenses.
Looking at the Standard and Professional versions, it seems to me that we do
not need any of the features that are missing from the Standard edition - we
do not really do any enterprise, database, XML kind of stuff. The only
difference that worries me (see
http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/pr...e/default.aspx) is under "
User experience" where it says "Simplified menu options and defaults" for
the Standard edition and "Full" for the Professional edition.

What are the major differences between the two, assuming I'm just doing
standard C++, MC++ and C# development and I don't care about SQL
integration, etc?

Regards,
John

Now that Visual Studio 2005 has been out a while I'm hoping that someone can give me some insight on what version to upgrade to (standard or professional). I went out on Microsoft's site and looked at the comparison chart and didn't find anything really significant between the two versions from my perspective. I have Visual Basic Professional 6.0 and have written a few standalone programs. No network, no databases just a few simple...

Hello, I live in Canada and I would like to get a copy of Visual Studio .NET 2005. I looked on Amazon and they don't ship to here and neither does Microsoft. I can't find any retailer that has VS .NET 2005. Am I looking in the wrong places or this product is just not available outside the States? Cheers, Max.

I am trying to decide between buying Visual Studio 2005 Professional and Standard versions. As far as I can tell, there is not a whole lot of difference, but the price for Professional is almost three times. Standard Professional User experience - Simplified menu options and defaults Full XML Editor Support- XML Only Full XML/XSLT Debugging- Local

Hi! I downloaded MS Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition, MS .NET Framework SDK v2.0, and MS SQL Server 2005. Subsequently, I bought MS Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition. 1) Are both the MS Visual Web Developer 2005 Express Edition and the MS Visual Studio 2005 Professional Edition used to develop .ASP applications?

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
