Is there a way of allowing XHTML tags in an XML document without including
them as #PCDATA?
I have a DTD for my document but want to include the XHTML DTD as well to
allow these extra tags. Can I do this and if so, how?
Thanks.

From XML specification:
The
representation of an empty element is either a start-tag immediately
followed by an end-tag, or an empty-element tag.
(This means that <foo></foo> is equal to <foo/>)
From XHTML specification:

I've tested some of the new Nokia 6600 functionality. It ships with
WAP2 and XHTML Support (it says). What it does is check the Doctype --
if it's not the XHTML Mobile Profile Doctype, but a XHTML1.0 Strict
one, the media-handheld CSS is _ignored_. Only with the Nokia Doctype,
the CSS is used. I find this really annoying as it goes against the...

I am converting a web site into transitional XHTML v.1.0
The onmouseover onmouseout thing isn't allowed with XHTML. Is there a way
to turn around and either use other arguments, or include a .js file ?
What would you do in this case?
Thanks, Charles

I read this in http://annevankesteren.nl/2004/12/xhtml-notes
"A common misconception is that XHTML 1.1 is the latest version
of the XHTML series. And although it was released a bit more
than a year later then the first version of XHTML 1.0, the second
edition is actually newer. Furthermore, XHTML 1.1 is not really
the follow-up of XHTML...

I'm trying to write a program for validating XHTML 1.1-documents
against the XHTML 1.1 DTD (which is actually the same as validating an

This is the program itself :

I'm not actually using it on the web but can anyone tell me why the ID
attribute on a <style> tag causes an error in the W3C validator for an
XHTML 1.1 document? It doesn't have a problem for a XHTML 1.0 or HTML
document.
I was just playing around with some test code that contained an embedded
stylesheet and used <?xml-stylesheet...

Hi all,
I'm attempting to write a validator for some email template files we
use as part of our e-commerce application (incidentally in C#) and I've
run into a problem as I'm not a huge user of XML.
Essentially an email template can contain any valid XHTML, but also has
tags such as <membershipcardheaderand <membershipcardfooterthat can...

Hi all,
There's been a bunch of chatter recently about using the Object tag,
vs. the Iframe tag.
I couldn't care less which one is used, I just want to be able to load
a "page" inside another "page", (same or different domain) and it has
to work in all browsers(*).
By work, it means I have to be able to have an anchor in my parent

Hi,
I am trying to create XML schema of custom markup language, enriched

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...
