I did a ton of searching to try and find a simple solution to this issue and finally wrote my own, which I am sharing with everyone. In my searching, I did find a very complete and robust solution at http://weblogs.asp.net/asmith/archive/2003/09/15/27684.aspx but it was far more complex then I needed. (I got lost trying to figure it all out). Therefore, here goes my simple "web dialog box with parent event handler fireing" solution. ...

I remember when I checked NewGroups for comments about the VB6 Activate event and found that many thought it was not a reliable way to keep track of which form has focus. There was enough bad press that I avoided it. I now have a project with MDI child forms and non-MDI child forms coming and going as the user selects different options. I need to know which form is the active one and thought that I could use the Activate and Deactivate...

By default it seems that there always must be an active MDI child form. But, I want to deactivate all of the MDI child forms when the user clicks on a control that is owned by the MDI parent. This is similar to how the MDI child forms in Visual Studio are deactivated when a docking window is selected. Is there any way to do this? I tried Me.ActivateMdiChild(Nothing) but that doesn't work Thank you Lance

For some reason, when I click the X to close my MDI parent form, the action appears to be re-directed to one of the MDI child forms, and the parent remains open. I am then unable to close the application. What should happen, is that the main MDI form should close, taking the child forms with it. There is code to loop through the child forms, remove the controls on each of them, and then close the form, but this code should execute only...

Forgive me if this has been already asked an answered, I did do a search both here and in VS2005 Help, but I can't find the answer to my question. I am developing an MDI application that is a speciality XML file editor, used to create and edit a special XML file. It is an MDI app since I want users to be able to have multiple XML files open at the same time. The parent form has the usual Menu bar with a File menu that has the

I have a question concerning the need to trigger events within a "child" subform which is itself enbedded within a master "parent" form and which is accessible via a tab in the parent form. Becuase this is all very difficult to explain in words, please bear with me as I endevour to explain what it is I am trying to do. It would be helpful if I could attach a graphics file to this posting that would help explain what it is I'm trying to achieve...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
