Modifying Obsolete Attribute

3 New Member
Hi all - would like to write a custom attribute, which, when applied
to a constructor will make the compiler issue a warning.
Just like the Obsolete Attribute, but with a name of my choosing.

For e.g. instaed of generating message "This method is Obsolete", it should display a message "This method can not be called from here", because logically that method is not obsolete, but should not be called from that class.

Can't override the ObsoleteAttribu te class - it's marked sealed.

Am I just stuck with [Obsolete]?
Any ideas very gratefully received.

Is there any way to get the 'Obsolete' attribute to work across multiple solutions? I currently have 70 solutions, each with 3 projects in them, and would like to change some base architecture, letting the app developers fix their own code over time. It works great in the first solution, but any solution consuming classes defined in an earlier solution does not respond to the attribute at all.

I am trying to mark an override method in a derived class as obsolete using the ObsoleteAttribute. The compiler, however is not picking up this attribute and is not generating a warning or an error. Sample code is below: If I put the attribute on the static method DoSomething() in the main class, a warning/error is generated by the compiler. If I put the attribute on the virtual instance method DoSomething() of

If I have a reusbale (GAC-'registered') assembly that contains two, related classes (imagine a DataSet and DataTable; the former contains instances of the latter, the latter has a reference to its parent .. er .. former). I want to make /both/ of these classes Obsolete, so I added Obsolete attributes to both. When these are only Warnings ... <Obsolete("DO NOT USE", False)>

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
