I have a routine that displays 60 items (with thumbnails) per page.
You can click any item and displays a new page with item details. When
the user back pages it runs the query again to display all the items.
Is there a way to cache that page and images so that second query
doesn't execute?
I do offer a pop-up window using Java but is not the default and not
used by many. I'd really like to get rid of that second query. ;)

Can I determine if an array of image links is already in memory
without using cookies or a hidden frameset? Scenario: visitor starts
with Home page, images (links) for navigation pre-load no problem.
Visitor follows search engine link and does not land on Home, thus no
links. But if I put the same code on every page to allow for that,
won't the images re-load every time those pages are loaded? If so,
there's be no point in pre-loading.

is it accurate to expect that my browser should not be rendering the content

Did anybody see this strange effect? The web application is written in C#,
ASP.NET, SQL, T-SQL, etc. A pretty usual stuff, complicated enough, but
works fine until...
Here is a question. I don't see any problem if I start this app on my local
computer against my local IE both in debug or release modes. If I upload the
same app to my corporate server where it works under HTTPS here are a few
possible ways.

Does anyone have any idea how Gmail does this? I have a web application
and people complain sometimes about some problems and most of the time
it turns out it's the browser's cache being full. The application
doesn't do anything really fancy and all it does is to set a cookie. I
did a search and couldn't find anything except people explainin how I
shouldn't do that. Even if the users have to add the server to the

We have a page that is loading very slow. There is not a lot of data, not a
lot of users are connected at the same time and the page does not produce an
error, so I am not sure where to start to look for why it is slowing down. I
thought about the DB first and added NOLOCK to a couple of stored procedures
that were being run, but with no effect. Can someone offer some tips on where
to start looking or how I can begin to diagnose this...

I have a page that shows many thumbnail images. on load of this page i have some code that invokes a javascript which shows a message saying 'loading images'... this is hidden once all the page/images loads fully. when i navigate to some other page and then hit the back button of the browser the javascript fires and i get the 'loading images'. the images load fast (maybe from cache). but i was thinking i shouldn't be getting the 'loading...
