.NET bugs? please help

I'm a college student working on a little program, and I've
run into two problems. I am using C++ (console app).

1) When I enter debugging mode, with the program breaking
somewhere, the "Watch 1" and "Locals" debug windows are
tabbed at the buttom, but they will not open. The other
debug windows open fine, though. I cannot remove the tabs.
Clicking a tab only brings it to the front of the tab
control. I do not know what I did to cause it.

2) The function below was written with a bool return type
originally, but as such, when the function is called: it
only returns false (regardless of the return value); the
"char *line" argument is <undefined> both in the "Watch 2"
window and the stack trace window. Changing the return
type to anything else fixes the problem. I encountered
this problem elsewhere in the same program, but I ended up
changing the code. That time, it wasn't a bool function,
it was a bool variable inside MAIN. The program would skip
all lines involving bool (debugger would not step onto
"bool x = true;" for example). Here's the function:

int _IsMapLine(char *line) {
int counter = 0;
for(counter = 0; counter < MAX; counter++) {
if(line[counter] == '#')
return 1; }
return 0; }

I'm going nuts. Somebody please save me. I am using
VS.NET 7.0.9466.

Hi, I'm trying to help my hosting company decide whether or not to upgrade to php 5. My hosting company does not want to upgrade to php 5 if it has bugs that would cause problems. So i'm doing a little research trying to find out if php 5 has any bugs. Does anybody know of any bugs in php 5? Mudge

there seems to be a serious problem with allowing numbers to grow in a nearly unbounded manner, as int/long unification does: it hides bugs. most of the time, i expect my numbers to be small. 2**31 is good enough for most uses of variables, and when more is needed, 2**63 should do most of the time. granted, unification allows code to work for larger numbers than foreseen (as PEP 237 states) but i feel the potential for more undetected...

Anthony Baxter, our ever-diligent release manager, mentioned this past week that Python 2.3.5 will most likely come to fruition some time in January (this is not guaranteed date). This means that in order to have enough time to proper evaluate new patches and bugs they must be reported **now**! A one month lead time is necessary to properly look at, test, and commit patches, let alone coming up with solutions to any reported bugs. ...

Is it just me (probably) or is Mozilla and the newer Firefox full of CSS rendering bugs? I ask, because some strange effects occur with Mozilla and Firefox which don't happen in Opera and dare I say it, IE. Like, for example, non-selection of a font-face for one style element, even though it is selected okay for another element and the colour, decoration and size are all rendered correctly!

Hi, we are currently using another database product but besides some licensing issues we are finding more and more problems with the database. We are evaluating PostgreSQL and it looks quite handy. Interesting features paired with good performance and a lot of users seems to be a prove for the quality. I wonder if people encountered bugs like 'a select returns a wrong number of rows' or any other very serious bugs. We do not have...

Hello, Having discovered what I believe to be two CSS bugs in IE7, I have submitted bug reports to MS. AFAIK, these don't get acted on until they receive votes form others to say they are worth investigating. As (I naively assume) it's in everyone's interest to see IE7 support CSS properly, would anyone care to vote for these bugs, so that they might get fixed before IE7 comes out of beta?

So every now and then I like to mess around with hobby projects - I often end up trying to write an OpenGL video game. My last attempt aborted due to the difficulty of automating game elements and creating a good level editor - I basically needed a scripting language to control the C modules of the game and, after a half-assed attempt or two to make my own, I just gave up. So naturally this seems like a job for Python. Embedding Python...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...
