I'm not quite sure where to post this, but I figured these two groups would
be a good start.
I had a very nasty surprise this morning (7/26/05).
I had to do a system restore to a restore point I made about a week ago. I
had some VPN software that was screwing up my network, and even an uninstall
didn't fix it.
After doing the system restore, I noticed that every C# source file (*.cs)

I am running 7.2 with fixpack 10a under W2K. I got a backup from someone
else in an attempt to debug a data issue. The other person created the
database with UTF-8 (codepage 1208), so I created a new database with that
codepage, cd to the directory where the backup was located, but the restore
failed:
db2 => create database MYDB using codeset UTF-8 territory us
DB20000I The CREATE DATABASE command completed successfully.

I've got a database backup from another system which I'd like to restore
to a test system. Both the backup and restore systems are Solaris 8. I
don't recall the DB2 version, but I do know that the backup and restore
versions match. If it matters, I'm only accessing this db via the UNIX
command line, and then programmatically via JDBC (by an app that does
all the actual queries and updates).
I do not have access to the original system....

We do not have a DBA available, and this is a development environment,
hence I was asked to do the work. I am not a DBA. I need some help to
clarify my understanding of DB2 recovery and I am reading the following
as well.

I have a database say DB_INV on machine A and the database is backed
up to tape, I am going to create a second system, say machine B with a
database called...

Serves me right, I guess. My Windows machine mysteriously stopped
getting any access to the network. I rebooted, reset the TCP settings,
tried the same connection on my Mac (which worked), ran various wizards,
walked through the utterly useless troubleshooting helper, and still had
no networking.
John extolls the prowess of System Restore, so I decided to give it a
try. I figured since networking was working fine yesterday, I could...

Hello All,
I am trying to redirect-restore a backup of a DB2 V6.x system (AIX 4.x)
on DB2 V8.2 system (AIX 5.2). I get the above error with no other

I'm trying to restore my computer to factory settings. I had done it once
before, but cannot remember how to. I do not want to do a regular restore
point; I need to get everything erased basically, all the way back.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

I had to do a system restore today. I restored it to 2 weeks ago.
After it was done I entered VS.NET (latest version) and it said I was
entering it for the first time.
I opened up a web project I've been working on (ASP.NET 2.0) and I noticed
that 2 of the directories were renamed (ex: "Admin" dir to "Admin(2)".)
Also, web.config changes I made are now gone.
Any ideas why this would happen????

My problem is system restore will run and restore points are created, but
when I try to restore back to a earlier date, system restore starts, reboots
my computer, and then I get the message that my computer could not be
restored back to that point and that no changes were made. System restore is
enabled, set to automatic, and restore points are being created. I looked for
a SR. INF file to see if I could delete system restore and just...

Hi to all you wonderful people, have read some of the answers re:- system
restore, but non of the questions seem to fit my problem.
Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 2
When I open up it originally gave me the option of todays date and the
previous restore point was March 21st and backwards from there. Non of them
worked. I tried to make a new restore point for today and it said

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
