Using team foundation server w/other versions of VS2005

Does anyone know if it's possible to use team foundation server as a
SCM backend with non-team system editions of visual studio? For
example, we're planning on getting a copy of Visual Studio 2005 Tools
for Office and I'd really love to use team foundation server for source
control instead of sourcesafe. Is that a supported configuration?

AFAIK, no. Pro will link natively to SourceSafe, but not TFS. I could be
incorrect. If it does, you will need a CAL. You can use the admin tools for
check out and check in, but that is a bugger.

I got a response from Microsoft sales saying that a non-team edition
client can connect up to TFS for source control, in case anyone is
interested.

First of all, I'm an Asian and I need to input Japanese, Korean and so on. I've tried many PHP IDEs today, but almost non of them supported Unicode (UTF-8) file. I've found that the only Unicode support IDEs are DreamWeaver 8 and Zend PHP Studio. DreamWeaver provides full support for Unicode. However, DreamWeaver is a web editor rather than a PHP IDE. It only supports basic IntelliSense (or code completion) and doesn't have anything...

I tried the new Visual Studio 2005 Team System + VSS2005, no Team Foundation Server. Some questions pop into my head: 1. WITHOUT TFS, can VSS2005 integrated with VS2005? What I like is the VS6 kind of integration: when I modify a source file in VisualStudio, VS found out it's readonly and controled by VSS, then pop up a dialog for me to check out from VSS. It seems like even with TFS, the integration between VSS and VS is not the same....

Based on what it says in the subscribers downloads for Team Suite I would think it would be there. Can it be downloaded separately or is it just the Workgroups one? Visual Studio Team System consists of: a.. Visual Studio Team Foundation Server, an extensible team collaboration server that enables all members of the extended IT team to effortlessly manage and track the progress and health of projects b.. Visual Studio Team Edition for...

I am using ASP.NET 2.0's ImageMap Control to create 2 imagemaps, one directly below the other. When I do this a thin blank space appears between them. After several days of frustration I realized that the difference between what the ImageMap Control outputs and the html on the page I was trying to reproduce with ASP.NET 2.0 was the following: Handwritten HTML imagemaps (no whitestrip between them): <table>

I am doing a Team Foundation Server Dual-Server Installation. According to Microsoft TFS installation walk-through, after installing Team Foundation Server Databases in the Data-Tier server, I need to Install Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1, is this correct?? I would think it makes sense to Install Visual Studio 2005 Team Foundation Server Service Pack 1 on the application-tier server. Thanks in advance

Hi all, I've created a VPC with Team Foundation Server installed (not in a domain). From the host (in a domain) I can ping the TFS VPC, and I try to connect with windows explorer, it asks credentials and connection succeeds. If I connect with Team Explorer from the host, it hangs and after a

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
