Hi there,
Can anyone tell if there's a solution to this for a Windows environment?
If this was running under Linux, it would be a problem, but...
I have a php script that when run, examines a file, and then updates a
local database. I would like to run this script (in the background - not
in a browser window) via the command line every e.g. 100 seconds - any
ideas?

This is my first post here, I hope this is the right place to talk
about such things. I have few comments and notes on the Python
language. I've just started to learn it; this is negative because I'm
ignorant still, but it's also positive because I can still see details
that later probably I'll start to ignore.
Some of the functions of IPython seem good and simple, and I think
some of them can be integrated into the main Python line.

Hey all:
I am working on a little script that needs to pull the strings out of a
binary file, and then manipulate them with python.
The command line utility "strings" (part of binutils) has exactly the
functionality I need, but I was thinking about trying to implement this
in pure python.
I did some reading on opening and reading binary files, etc., and was

I couldn't find this anywhere so I'm not sure that it exists.
In most programming languages, one can define a value and then uses that
value by referencing the name in all of the source, and if that value
needs to be changed, then it's a simple matter of changing the
definition, and the change will be reflected of course throughout the
whole thing.

I loaded 1998 vintage 16-bit business mapping software onto a PC and I
think it overlayed some OS files dealing with DDE functionality. After
that software install, my DDE functionality between Microsoft Word 2000
and Access 2000 and Excel 2000 has been affected.
Now, when I try to open a Word document that was formerly successfully

Hi:
I am looking for any ideas/comments/suggestions on how a Windows
Service kind of functionality can be acheived from a web application
which which will run under IIS or for that matter any application
server say Tomcat. I have a Windows service which should run every half
hour and call four different methods in a Web Service in serial mode.
The methods will have to wait for the previous one to finish and if the
previous one is a really...

Hi All,
I am new to this group and this is my first mail to the group.
I have a requirement wherein we need to support type ahead
functionality for combo boxes.
For e.g. Say we have 5 entries in combo box "1, 23, 14, 18, 4".
The default functionality of combobox is, whenever I press 1 from key
board, it will take me to first entry in combo box which starts with

the AJAX functionality only?
I am a new in prototype.js topic, so I think this task

I've gotten some pretty basic stuff down. I can make a web site look pretty, but it has little or no functionality. I would like to start learning to add things like forums and email, or a "contact us" section. I just need to learn how to do it. PHP? Javascript? What do I need to learn/do? I guess PHP and js would be a good start... The visuals on the site look fantastic, but that's all it is... visuals.

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
