Instead of re-inventing the wheel, have a look at class Search site at www.phpclasses.org.

It is free to download, use, change and adapt it to your needs.

Is anyone able to translate the following PHP to ASP ? or come up with something that would work. The reason for the code is that I'm using Indexing service to create a search engine on a company intranet. Unfortunately the Find.asp is bringing back the location of the link as its place on the server (eg C://Inetpub/www etc rather than a nice URL that works. I've been told this code may help but its in PHP. Thanks...

Hello guys, I've been building a search facility for an intranet site I'm part of developing and we've been building a search engine using Index Server. It mostly works, however there have been a few niggling problems and fixing it seems to be a case of patching errors as we find them so I'm thinking that it might be worth starting the logic from scratch and rebuilding this again. Basically we have a simple search, which is simply a...

Hello, folks! I am trying to design a login script / page for a set of administrative functions on my company's Intranet. I need something that is reasonably secure and I've been trying to rack my brains to come up with a scheme. These functions are for a bunch of look-up tables, a knowledge base, etc. I am looking for a little advice I am thinking something along these lines: default.aspx: ViewState("Attempt") - count attempt (if >...

There's an architect at my 200 person company that advocates having many layers in all my C# apps. He wants web services, use case handlers, facade layers, data gateways, etc. When I ask why all this complexity is necessary, he gives me what if scenarios: "What if you ever want to access the business logic with another front end?", for example. These are typical "intranet apps"...one or more screens selecting and updating rows in a...

Hello All, I have created a vb.net app that I want to place on a network drive. Each time I try to execute it from the network, a security violation pops up and prohibits the app from running. Running from my local system everything works fine. I can't give the exact error because I'm not at work where this occurs. The error is something like "No Security Priviledges ---- zone: Intranet." I googled and found a near match, but reading...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
