ASP.NET - How to stay logged in until browser closes?

i'm using forms authentication. i would like for a user to be logged in until
they close the browser. The FormsAuthentica tion.RedirectFr omLoginPage method
takes the parameter createPersisten tCookie. For some reason i thought this
meant it either wrote a cookie that lasted for 50 years or a cookie that
existed until the browser closed. Apparently i guessed wrong

If i set createPersisten tCookie to false, i am logged out after 20 minutes.
i can't find a way to change this. i originally worried that it was the
SessionTimeout value, either for the IIS virtual directory or from the
web.config but i've changed those parameters up and down with no effect

Needless to say, our users are furious. Hit the save button and pow, you've
lost all your data and have been kicked out of the system without warning

Anyone know how i stay logged in until the browser closes?

Hi all, I'm currently relying on logged-in users hitting "logout" (logoff) before they leave, in order to terminate the session. With PHP the session filename is in a cookie that lasts for the current session. The problem is that the server does not know when the current session expires. (I have quite long timeouts.) Did anybody attempt a script to automatically call "logout" when the session expires? It seems quite complicate, as...

I'd like so that when a user moves there mouse over an image (or clicks the image, either way it doesn't matter), I'd like some text to appear. I was going to use the img tag with the alt parameter but the text is a few sentences long and the yellowish box doesn't stay up long enough to read the whole thing? Is there a way to keep the yellowish box there until the use moves his mouse away, or to keep the box there for maybe 10 seconds or...

Greetings, I am creating a web application, which I will be selling licenses to be able to use it. So Customer Group A, could purchase 3 licenses, Customer Group B could purchase 30. With the web app I am using asp.net/vb.net This means Customer Group A, could only have 3 concurrent users logged in, and for Customer Group B only 30 at one time.

Hi, I have an ASP.NET application in which if a user has logged in with a set of credentials then i do not want to allow another user to log-in with the same credentials. For this i am thinking of keeping a flag which would let me know if the user has already logged-in or not. Problem is i do not know how and where would i clear this flag. What if the

Hi guys I'm trying to create an updated list of which of my AD users are logged onto each computer - there's about 29 computers and we use hotdesking! I'm using Windows Integrated Authentication, so I know who the user is, and I obviously know the Workstation name they are on. My theory is that I could put something in Session_Start to store the User/Workstation in a database, and I could put something in Session_End to

I need to implement an option to display on the web page for users currently logged in. How do I implement this in ASP.NET (c#). I could probably have a boolean field in the database where a user can be set as logged. This can easily be done in the code-behind. The problem is how do I "unlogged" the user when the session is timed out?

Hi all, I'm trying to trouble shoot an issue where I am running an Access/VBA app, which grabs some data and puts it into a few text files. It usually takes 10 minutes to run (though after even a minute, some of the texts should be written). When I run the task manually, it acts exactly as it should. When I go to run the task automatically, it will work, but only if I am logged in. If I am logged off, nothing gets updated, and the...

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
