Hello everyone:
I am developing a VB.Net Windows Application and I am now ready to create
the deployment project for it.
This application needs to be installable on a different number of users /
clients, and the application has an Access DB out on their network.
How can I create a deployment routine where I can have a dialog box prompt
for the network share (i.e. \\server\dbfolder) at install-time?
Once network the share is specified...

Hi,
I want to know if there is a place to learn about Setup Projects, because
I'm trying to make one but can't do the things I want to do, like add a
registry key or allow the user to select/unselect optional parts.
Can somebody help please or supply a link to a place where I could find the
ansers or just learn how to make these projects?
Thanks

I successfully installed VS 2005 Professional RTM and am enjoying using
it. Occaisionally I have re-compile a solution using VS2003. This
solution has a setup project in it.
During compilation, a VS 2005 install dialog appears with the following
message:
"Please wait while Windows configures Microsoft Visual Studio 2005
Professional Edition - ENU"

Hello!
Does anybody know? Is it possible to add additional dialog to "Setup and
deployment project" that contains a combobox.
Can i create my own one, or i'am restricted only to use fixed set of dialogs
with TextBoxes, RadioButtons, CheckBoxes, but without Combobox?
Thanks

Does anyone know how to create a custom dialog for a setup project? My c#
solution contains several components, each are optional for a user to
install. Therefore, I would like to present the user with a treeview control
or listbox control with the choices for them to select which components to
install.

Hi
In my setup project I need a custom dialog box containing a drop down
list box. Since this is not avaialble from standard user interface
dialog boxes that visual studio supplies, I am using Installer class.
This installer class inturn displays the custom dialog box i need. but
the problem is this custom dialog box is displayed as a popup window
during installation. But I want this custom dialog box to be shown as

I have built several very simple setup projects where I just install a
single application. I am using the installation tools that come with Visual
Studio 2005.
This setup I want to build has 2 applications, a windows forms proj and a
Windows Service proj (which has a project installer added).
So far, I have used the setup designer to add an extra dialog to the Start
section of the User interface between "Welcome" and "Installation Folder"....

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
