Simple Setup project. Im lost

I have built several very simple setup projects where I just install a
single application. I am using the installation tools that come with Visual
Studio 2005.
This setup I want to build has 2 applications, a windows forms proj and a
Windows Service proj (which has a project installer added).
So far, I have used the setup designer to add an extra dialog to the Start
section of the User interface between "Welcome" and "Installati on Folder".
It's called "Checkboxes (A)".
On this dialog I have made checkbox1 visible and the remainder invisible.
Checkbox1 gives the option to "install service application" and I realize
that somewhere I should be checking the value of CHECKBOXA1, but where/when
i do that or what/how I tell to "ok, go install my service" is lost on me
atm.
I'm absolutely baffled on how to carry on. I've done web searches (Im very
poor on knowing the correct terms on which to search), I've read articles on
Custom Actions which have just confused me more as the authors seem to
assume a certain level of knowledge or they give examples of things I could
have worked out myself.
If someone can give me simple explanation of how to solve this I'd be very
grateful.

thank you
Claire

Greetings to all, I am creating a setup project for a COM component I created in C#, but I can't get the component to be registered in the client system. I am busy packaging our product as a standard Setup project in VS.NET that uses a bunch of merge modules (basically, a merge module for every key infrastructure component in our system). Part of the installation needs to "dump" a bunch of files (third party product's project files) to the user's system. These files are transient in nature...

Here's a little walkthrough to get py2exe up and running. I'm not an expert, so I can't help much with any problems you might have. This is what worked for me. The result here will be to convert a simple python app into a single .exe file that can be copied and run on any Windows XP machine. It may work on many other Windows platforms, but I...

I want to deploy a service with a windows app and the setup program must conform to the Vista certification requirements. Can that be done with the standard .net setup project? Assuming cost is an issue, what else is available?

Hi, I'm trying to create a VS2005 Setup Project. I have a config file (MyApp.exe.config) that I need to deploy only the first time the app is installed in a particular location. Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For...
