Setup

Does anyone know how to create a custom dialog for a setup project? My c#
solution contains several components, each are optional for a user to
install. Therefore, I would like to present the user with a treeview control
or listbox control with the choices for them to select which components to
install.

Demetri,
I stand corrected if wrong, but I don't believe there is a way to add a
custom dialog to a Visual Studio.Net Setup project other than the "stock"
dozen or so choices that are available from the User Interface View and the
"Add Dialog" context menu.

Most likely, to create a custom dialog you will need to switch to
Installshield, Wise, or one of the other "more complete" setup offerings.

Hi - This is probably quite a stupid question but I've never understood what setup.py does. I've got a situation at the moment where I would like to use a script (which someone else has written and made available) to do CGI on a shared webserver to which I do not have shell access. The install instructions say "run python setup.py" but as far as I'm aware I cannot do that. There is only one script involved (except for the setup.py !)...

my application was created in vb.net, vs 2003. the setup project was also created in vs 2003. one of my application reviewers reported this: The .Net link that is included in the setup is not the correct link, it's outdated. The link should be changed from this http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/netdevframework.asp to the new link, which is this:...

I have a C++ COM Addin I wrote for Outlook (2002) using VS.Net 2002. Having completed it, I am now looking to create a setup project and install it on another machine. I created a setup project and added it to my solution (selecting the "Primary Output" as the files to include from my project). However, when I attempt to build the setup project (assuming a clean output directory), I get "Unrecoverable build error" - and NO other...

When I build a setup project, the dependency in the setup project is tied to the version in which it was built. Is there a way to build a setup project that can be used in both versions of the Framework? There is provision to build the app's .exe so that the .exe can be used in either version of the framework, is there not a way to do this for the setup project? I looked at the options, did not find any. Did I miss something? --

I am developing a windows application with Visual Studio 2003 using C#. The application is complete so naturally I went to create a setup package. I added a setup project to the solution and I went through the appropriate steps in attaching the solution dependencies. After completing the setup package, I attempted to install the application on a co-worker's computer. Usually, the installation consist of several screens which directs the...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
