Tom
Is it possible for .NET to communicate with devices on FireWire (IEEE1394)?
If so, how? Thanks.

The win2000 DDK has some support
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/de...4318a9.xml.asp

and there are 3rd party SDKs like
http://www.unibrain.com/1394_product...c_products.htm
and Im searching for any dll you may be able to use, Texas Instruments would
be an excellent starting place since they make chips and want you to use
them; If you do it from scratch it requires making a Kernel mode driver

http://focus.ti.com/analog/docs/arti...evnet_software

but I noticed not all links work, or they changed product lines

here is the 1394 trade group
http://www.1394ta.org/Technology/Links/index.htm

and after lots of searching, there are many bad links. seems like its tough
to find something for user mode, just kernel level stuff is free?

No, I haven't yet persued it. I may need this to communicate directly to a
Nikon camera via Firewire; however, I need to get the camera SDK before I
can look into it and I am still waiting on that.

May be a bit, but once I get this I will look into it and let you know. I
was just curious on how easy it would be to get to the camera via Firewire.

Hi all, What I'm looking to do is capture images from an IEEE1394 camera (Unibrain Fire-i) and manipulate them. I really need to be able to stream into a buffer or capture into a buffer, and the more instantaneous the better. I have never done anything with cameras before, so I really need some basic help. I'm very new to this whole dot NET thing and C# but I have some Java experience. If it isn't best done in C# which other dot NET...

Is there a standard way of controlling firewire cameras on C# or indeed at using a generic library somewhere or are these camera specific?

Hi all, I hava java application that wants to receive windows events when a device like an USB or Firewire is plugged in. I know how to do this natively in C++ where I can register a window to receive device change events. I'm assuming I'd have to use JNI to somehow get the events up to my java app, but I'm not sure where to start exactly. Any help/suggestions will be much appreciated. Regards, Tuism

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
