What's wrong with my dot.net help?

I have Visual Studio .NET 2003. I have a problem withe the help files.

When I click with the mouse any item in an index list download from the internet starts. There is a text "downloadin g ..." on a status bar. If my laptop is connected to a network after few minutes (5 or more) I get the page. If my laptop is not connected to a network I get a message (after 5 or more minutes) "Page not found" (or something like that)

On a toolbar there is a combo box having a text
ms-help://MS.VSCC.2003/MS.MSDNQTR.2003 FEB.1033/cpref/html/ ..

What can I do to correct the problem? The help files used to work properly. This mess started on January 2004.

Hi Liisa

It seems to me that you simply have your Visual Studio configured to always use the Internet help files. To correct the problem, go to the Start Page, click My Profile (on the right pane) and then select Show Help: Internal Help

I hope this helps. If not, do post again

Cheers

Jerom

Internal/External Help radio button
Specifies whether to display Help within a window in the IDE or in a separate window available outside of the IDE.

I solved the problem myself. F-Secure Anti-Virus was scanning the help files every time I selected something in an index list. I excluded the help file folder from the F-Secure scanning list and now the help files are working OK.

What's better about Ruby than Python? I'm sure there's something. What is it? This is not a troll. I'm language shopping and I want people's answers. I don't know beans about Ruby or have any preconceived ideas about it. I have noticed, however, that every programmer I talk to who's aware of Python is also talking about Ruby. So it...

Seems I still haven't got the hang of all those window generating code in Javascript. I've got a page with about 15 photo thumbnails. When you click on a thumbnail a new window pops up which shows the enlarged version of said thumbnail. This works fine on all current browsers I've tested. However, in case I do not close the popup but click...

I do not believe that C# is the future of C++. I also do not believe that adding two thousand new library functions to the standard library is the future of C++. But what is the future of C++? Is it as good as a programming language can get? Like so many of you, I programmed speech recognizers, image recognition systems, a portion of a...

First of all, I'm an Asian and I need to input Japanese, Korean and so on. I've tried many PHP IDEs today, but almost non of them supported Unicode (UTF-8) file. I've found that the only Unicode support IDEs are DreamWeaver 8 and Zend PHP Studio. DreamWeaver provides full support for Unicode. However, DreamWeaver is a web editor rather...

Hello experts! I'm trying to send mail from my C# Asp.Net webpage. I used the code samples at www.systemnetmail.com but it still won't send. I think the problem is on the iis or exchange server side but I can't find any tutorials on how to configure the server(s). Any good links for this? Any advice is welcome!

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. ...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not.
