Hi,
I am a Java prof for last 5 years and have delivered many enterprise
application using J2EE. Now my company is making headway in the .NET area of
the market, and I am trying to sort out few issues.
I have not been able to understand the way my application in .NET should
interact with a Legacy System. Could anyone help me with it?

Hello:
I am using ASP.NET as our front end. I also have to interface to some
legacy systems that use a callback mechanism. The legacy systems use
callbacks (via CORBA) to communicate back to clients. The ASP.NET web pages
will initiate communication with the legacy backend, but results from the
backend will often take quite some time and will be asynchronous in nature in
their return. We have successfully created a prototype that...

I posted for help on legacy code interface 2 days ago. Probably I didn't
make it clear in my original mail. I got a couple of answers but none of
them address my issues directly (See attached response). My first reply
directed me to source code migration but I didn't have the source code. The
second reply mentioned about .NET interoperability (PInvoke I think) but I
MENTIONED THAT I COULDN'T FIND ANY DOCUMENTATION FROM MSDN LIBRARY BASED ON...

I have to interface managed application with my legacy dll. I have employed
the wrapper approach but I have to deal with the asynchronous callback from
the legacy dll, which likely goes through a thread other than the initial
calling thread. I got the idea from MSDN and other responses from this group
by using the delegate. However, for garabage collection issue, I need to pin
the delegate. Since my callback is asynchronous, I have been...

First off, the sympathy is for all you poor buggers out there who have to figure out how to marry
Managed Extensions for C++ onto your legacy code. My condolences; my brief experience with the
process leads me to believe the Microsoft hates all of its VC++ developers :)
Now, the question. I'm getting a NullReferenceException in a __gc class that wraps functionality in
a legacy C/C++ app (it's actually part of the Nero burning rom api).

I have (3) legacy ASP applications where I have been tasked with
implementing a SpellChecker in, the catch is that the SpellChecker has to be
done in .NET. I have some ideas about how to do it but wanted to see what
others with more experience with .NET would do.
Thanks!

I would like to create a .net application that still uses a few screens from
an old legacy application we have.
I can list records from the database in my .net app, but when it comes to
making updates I still need to legacy screens as the update logic is very
complex.
I have found I can use SetParent to "embed" some of the legacy screens
within my .net app, but because they are still basically two separate
applications clicking...

I feel a bit dumb for asking this but I lost my documentation in an
accident. Could someone confirm the last supported PSDK for VC2003 and
95/98/ME & NT4?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it.
First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
