Hi,
I can find a few questions regarding the use of distutils for making
non-python windows installers, but none of them really helps. Are
there any pointers on how to do this? Can it be done?
A little OT: What about making MSI installation files instead of .exe?
Is it a good idea to consider at all?

I've been using Visual Studio Setup projects to create my application
installers but Setup projects seem to be a tad limited. What's a good
alternative? I'd prefer something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg like
InstallShield, and I assume there must be something out there. Any
suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm running Windows XP at the moment, and occasionally Windows ME.
I've downloaded the following Net Framework installers, and I'd like to know
which ones are necessary, and whether I'm overkilling by installing all four
of them:
Version 1.0
Update to 1.1 (file is called "NDP1.1sp1-KB867460-X86")
Update to SP3 (file is called "NETCFSetup")

I'm having a problem with the .NET installers that I create using
Visual Studio .NET. I'm able to create the installers and deploy
them on the target machine, however, when I run the installed
application, parts of the installer keeps popping up giving you the
impression that it is still installing software. This of course is
very annoying and useless since the application already seems to be

Hi all,
I am trying to find out what tools (platform-independent if possible) that I
can use to package a goup (few) of installers to become an exe application.
I have heard of Py2exe but have not use it before. Could it be used to wrap
different installers (for example Python and Leo, python-based application)
together? Does the installers have to be python-based to be able to use
Py2exe? Are there any other alternatives?
