Hello all,
I am attempting to delete multiple rows from multiple tables as
follows:
DELETE FROM attachments,res ponses,response _lines WHERE attachments.id
IN(2,7,11) AND responses.attac hment_id=attach ments.id AND
response_lines. response_id=res ponses.id
The error message it returns is:
MySQL Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near
'responses,resp onse_lines WHERE attachments.id IN(2,7,11) AND
responses.attac hment_id=' at line 1
I have tried every construct described at http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/DELETE.html and always receive the same
error.
Any suggestions?

What version of MySQL are you using?
"The first multiple-table delete format is supported starting from MySQL
4.0.0. The second multiple-table delete format is supported starting

Background:
1) tblT_Documents is the primary parent transaction table that has 10
fields and about 250,000 rows
2) There are 9 child tables with each having 3 fields each, their own
PK; the FK back to the parent table; and the unique data for that
table. There is a one to many relation between the parent and each of
the 9 child rows. Each child table has between 100,000 and 300,000

am working on (my first one), which reads a message queue and creates
multiple threads to perform the processing for long running reports. When
the processing is complete it uses crystal reports to load a template file,
populate it, and then export it to a PDF.

I have a routine that checks a SQL Table for all records 3 months
prior to a predetermined date, then I insert them into an Archive DB
then delete those records from the original table.
When I do a "select" for the records, I load them into a dataset, use
an "insert" statement to insert the info into the second table (by a

Hey Everyone,
Well i was hoping someone could explain the best way i could go about this.
