Are there any white papers or sample apps or Message
threads that handle the issue of multiple users viewing,
editing and saving XML files?
I have a few very rudimentary ideas (like only letting one
edit at a time - yuck<g>).
Normally I use a database to do this so I only have to
worry about the specific record being changed, not the
whole file being overwritten, but I have an application

hi all,
Thx to any one that can offer me help, it will be much appreciated.
iv got a multithreaded program and need to use thread synchronization. The
synchronization does not have to work across multiple processes just the
one. I was wondering if any one new which one used the least overhead. Im
at current using mutexes but was wondering if there was something a bit

Hello,
I am running an Access 2003 database, quite modest in size, that is
used by upwards of 5 users.
I need to modify the database such that these users can work
simultaneously and, in some cases, offline.
It is split to front and back ends and works over Citrix. So the
multi-user is working fine.

Hi
Say you had N threads doing some jobs (not from a shared queue or
anything like that, they each know how to do their own set of jobs in a
self-contained way). How can you coordinate them so that they all wait
until they've all done one job before starting off on each of their
next jobs.
I have been thinking about this for a day and can't seem to find a
solution.

Alachisoft has released NCache 3.1, a high performance distributed object cache for for mission critical .NET and Java applications with real-time data access needs. Reduce expensive database trips by caching data close to your application. Use a distributed cache in a multi server environment from web, N-Tier, or distributed/grid applications.
NCache now provides full support for synchronizing your distributed cache with your database....

Hi, until recently i was quite happy to add data sources from mssql
database in visual studio and drag the datasets directly onto the form
this creating a directly editable form which worked well.
However i have recently started a project which will require
synchronization to a remote database. Also the underlying database
provider may change at a later date. From what i have read it seems
that a layered approach is necessary, or at...

I already spent some time thinking for a solution for my problem, but finally
can't decide what would be the most optimal and correct solution. Therefore I
post my question to this forum, to get your opinion.
On a regular basis (eg every 10 minutes or after user initiation) the
content of several MySQL database tables (on a pc/laptop client) need to be
transfered (over the Internet) (synced) with a SQL Server 2005 db (hosted on
a server)...

Hello folks,
I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
This is as boiled down as I can make it.
Here is my compilation command:
g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp
Here is the code in...

Overview:
Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends,
With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own....
Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
