looking for recommendation for database design book

I am looking for a recommendation for an introductory database design book
which will enable me to design my first database. It should cover the basics
such as normalization and entity-relationship diagrams. If it is oriented
towards MySQL, so much the better.

Thank you

Hello, I have been in print publishing since the late 1980's, and I need to build several web sites. I am familiar with HTML at a very basic level, and understand its similarities with Quark XTags. Obviously, I come from a mindset that is much different than that used by those who prepare text and images for web. I am a Macintosh user, FWIW. My mental limitations are: I ALWAYS need to know the big picture and I cannot "just do"...

Alright, I have no idea what level book I need. I have a basic/decent background in coding. I am advanced in query building. I have a decent understanding of Visual Basic and some VBA. My problem is design structure. Where to begin, etc. I see that everyone recommends The Access 97 Developer's Handbook (I am looking for a Access 97 book), but is that going to be too advanced in terms of getting a db off the ground? I am thinking I...

I will be doing an app for a nonprofit. It would be useful for them to have a good entry-level book on Access so that they don't have to pay someone to design all their queries and reports. I'm not familiar with those books. Does anyone have a recommendation? TIA.

Greetings, I'm looking for any books that the members of this group may have to recommend for C#. I have experience with a number of programming languages (probably most relevant would have to be Java), and have already read 'C# for Java Developers' from Microsoft Press. I feel as though I have a decent understanding of C# now, but am interested in taking it to the next level. In particular, a book with good examples is what I'm...

I wish to buy a book to help me with the following "adventure". I've tried to specify what I need to achieve and my current level of ability. What I want to achieve: The decision has been made to completely replace an "enterprise-scale" eCommerce application using the .NET framework. It will have to cope with many hundreds of concurrent users, large amounts of data (multi-giga-byte databases) and so must scale as much as possible...

I was browsing both the Amazon and Barnes & Noble websites looking for some good books but there appears to be *so* many and it's hard to tell which are going to be good or not. I'm looking for one or two *good* books on the subjects of ASP.NET and ADO.NET together. E.g., using ASP.NET on the front end to communicate with a back end database via ADO.NET. I'm hoping to find a mid-level type of book. I've been using PHP and MySQL for...

I will be teaching an eCommerce application development course using ASP.Net after many years of having taught classic ASP. (Course was interrupted by 18 months in the Middle East with my Army Reserve unit.) I need a textbook recommendation for a particular need. As I have delved into ASP.Net I find that I want to teach the course by emphasizing coding in the code behind pages but most of the books targeted at beginners to ASP use...

Hi, I have been programming for about 5 years mainly on client apps that are standalone and n-tier. I have very little experience with web development. I need a recommendation on a book that will get me up to speed on ASP.Net 2.0 with my experience. Any suggestions? Thanks

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
