i downloaded the cd ISO images for Linux Fedora Core 6, i burned the first one to a dvd.
i used DigitalMedia Home by Roxio, the burn went file until the very end, it said that there was a error during the burn and i had to try again. I opened the cd, and found a bunch of files there. So i tried to boot up, but it said i was missing a kernel iso

any ideas?

(Didn't think this worthy of a new post so...)

You all seeme to be familliar with Linux.
If I was to try out linux would I be able to use any of my Windows software?

I mean stuff like Visual Studio and Dreamweaver.

To the best of my knowledge, neither of those will run in Linux.
However, Linux does have KDevelop, Quanta Plus, and NVu.

I downloaded the Fedora Core 7 x64 ISO image (it's 778MB large) and it failed to burn onto a CDROM-R disc (file incompatible). I checked that the CD-R media can hold about 700 MB of data and other types of discs hold a similar anount. I also noted that a later release candidate of Fedora Core 7 is 805 MB large. How can I burn these images if standard CDROMs are limited to 700MB?
Please advise.
Thnaks.

Several people asked me for the following HOWTO, so I decided to post it here (though it is still very 'alpha' and might contain many (?) mistakes; didn't test what I wrote, but wrote it - more or less - during my own installation of Python 2.3 on Fedora Core 1 Linux for a friend of mine). Anyway, HTH, L.

I can install Python 2.4 on the Fedora 3 Linux system, but after I do a number of Linux utilities and commands, like yum, stop working because they were dependent on the Python 2.3 installation. What happens is that Python 2.4 replaces the /usr/bin/python module with the Python 2.4 version. If I replace /usr/bin/python with the Python 2.3 version executable, which is still on my system, that all the aforesaid modules depend on, they start...

In order for my company to go ahead and use .Net and C# (over java), I need to know how to install and run a C# ASP.Net application not only on Windows, but on Linux. I'm a Windows developer, currently writing a c# ASP.Net application. The last time I used Linux (or whatever you want to call it) was back at Uni 5 years ago. So, can anyone tell me which flavour of linux i should use, some say that Debian is more programmer friendly, or shold i use fedora, or Solaris. Because these three are the only ones i know of that are popular and free. -- * Posted with NewsLeecher v3.0 Beta 7 * http://www.newsleecher.com/?usenet

I need to detect whether the operating system I am running on (not the Python version) is 64bit or 32bit. One requirement is that I need to include support for non-Intel/AMD architectures. The 2 ways I have thought detecting 64bit are: 1. struct.calcsize("P") == 8 2. '64' in os.uname() I'm not convinced that either one of these is really adequate. Does

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
