Forcing an onChange event to fire

I have a page which has a small number of input fields and some areas on
the screen where the user can click to make things happen. These areas
are generally <span>s with some associated onclick behavior. I want to
have the onchange event fire when the user clicks on one of these areas.
Is there a way that I can get this to happen?

Thanks.

If I understand you correctly, then the two things
I would be inclined to look at are 1) the fireEvent method
or 2) executing the associated onChange function directly.

In JavaScripts checks for an onChange event against the value of the textbox at the time of the last onChange event. Since an onChange Event never fired after you changed the text first time , suppose we put the same value in the text box then no event is fired. If we put some other value then it became fired... It wouldn't fire if we put the same value... I don't want to use onBlur etc... Isthere any solution with onChange Event...?

I'd like to fire a JS function from the Onchange event of a Text edit. Unfortunately it doesn't fire when I hit any key, but only when leaving the control. I've tried with OnKeyup, and it works, but it isn't compatible with NS6. Please any advice ? Best regards. Bob

Hello, I've been looking on the web for a solution to this problem: I create a set of checkboxes, and 2 buttons: - one is labeled "All" - the other is labeled "None" Clicking "All" is supposed to check all the checkboxes, which it does (that's not rocket science ;), but the 'onchange' event does not get triggered.

Here goes: I have a web form with several asp:dropdownlists, with which, when selection is changed I want to fire an event defined in some clientside js. The content of the clientside code is dependant on data collected in the code behind on the server. I have set AutoPostback to false for the controls and added lines such as cboMyCombo1.Attributes.Add("onchange", "MyCombos_OnChange('1')"); in the Page_Load event, which is rendered OK...

Hi, I have a textbox and a calendar popup window. I got this from a posting (sorry, his name escapes me at the moment). It's nice and simple, so I like it, of course. Only problem I have is that when the popup closes and puts the control value (date selected) into the textbox on my main form, I can't get my onchnage event to fire (i.e., which should load a datagrid). This is the sub that the calendar pop-up form uses when the date is...

Whilst I have no immediate need for it, I've noticed that if a select element is changed via setting the selectedIndex value, it does not fire an onchange event. Is there any reason for this? Both IE 6 and FF 2 behave the same in regards to this. Is it the developers responsibility to fire this event in such a situation?

Here is my issue I have two text fields (Field A, Field B). I want Field B to be updated when Field A is changed. The problem is Field A is being changed through JavaScript so an onChange event is not fired. Is there any way to make this work without having to change the code that changes Field A? Thanks, William

I am using a popup calendar to populate an input field. When the contents of this field change I need the onChange event to fire so that I can perform further updates. The onChange event "onChange=myFunction()" will fire if I manually type the date into the field but not if I populate the field using javascript! Note that I am using AJAX and so do not 'Post' back and reload my page. How can I programatically invoke the onChange event?

Most computers default to English, but sometimes we require a different language, especially when relocating. Forgot to request a specific language before your computer shipped? No problem! You can effortlessly switch the default language on Windows 10 without reinstalling. I'll walk you through it. First, let's disable language synchronization. With a Microsoft account, language settings sync across devices. To prevent any complications,...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...
