I installed the new RTM version of ASP.NET 2.0 AJAX Extensions 1.0
released on Tuesday (1/23). I made the required changes to the
web.config file to go from the RC version to the RTM version. Now,
what once did partial, async. postbacks correctly in my app are now
regular postbacks - page refresh and everything.
I even started from scratch with a simple sample (script mgr., update
panel, grid view), and that also does full postbacks. ...

I have a web page and at the end of the page I have inserted some
javascript that checks if Acrobat Reader plugin is installed. If it is
not installed, I disable some elements (buttons, checkboxes, ...) on
the page. This javascript is at the end of the page, because
javascript cannot identify html elements if they are defined below the
script.

I am currently working on an ASP.Net Querying application which uses a
menu control with all the links going to the same page. Before I
implemented AJAX on this page the end user was able to browse through
the application using the back and forward buttons on the browser
toolbar as each full post back added an entry to the browsers history.
Since the AJAX components (ScriptManager/UpdatePanel) have been
implemented in the page every time...

I have a aspx page with ajax scriptmanger update panel etc. I also
have public string variables on the aspx page.
Whenever postback happens from Ajax update panel, at server side all
the public string variables are reset to empty string. As if fresh
page is loaded. How to preserve the page level variables during Ajax

I am trying to figure out how to do a postback that updates only changed
controls without having the entire page refresh and flash on the screen.
Seems to me this was available in ASP.NET 1.1, but I can't remember how it
was done (I did it in another project but can't remember how).
I do not want to use Ajax.
I tried a search but got so many hits related to Ajax that I gave up.

I recently moved to ASPnet Ext 3.5
What I can't get with Ajax and History browser managemet is this:
User fills some fields (dropdown and textbox) on page 1 (all are in an
update panel)
User clicks Submit Button
I write the data into a DB
I add a history point with ScriptManager to be able to get back to this
point with browser back button
Page 2 is loaded with a response.redirect() command

I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>".
The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed.
