animated org chart

JOS
Hi

I am looking for some advice on building an animated org chart for
the web. It will allow the user to click on boxes and allow them to
drill into an area. I would like to do this with nice animation
effects

I know it would be possible with flash but I would like you opinon on
doing it in DHTML/
Javascript.

Do you think it would be easily done?
Has anyone come across an example on the web?

Thanks
Jerry

I would have thought it would be very difficult with just DHTML. You'll
be needing lines that join boxes that move as the boxes move. There's no
built in way of doing that with just DHTML. You might look into SVG.
That could definitely do it but I think Internet Explorer doesn't
support it natively (not even IE7). There's work going on with
Silverlight to support SVG but it's most definitely "in progress". It
all depends on your user base and whether you have any influence on
them. For example, if it's employees of your company then it's easy to
say "install this plugin", but if it's just the general public then
that's not so good. In that case you'd probably be better off using Flash.

I'm trying to create an eBay ad. So far, I've got the page the way I want it. However, the few animated gif's I have on the page display but are no longer animated. I can get it to work in FrontPage and 'Preview in Browser'. However, When I enter the URL or when I 'select all' html and paste it into the 'add your own html' box in ebay, the gif's don't animate. If anyone would take the time to scan my 'index.htm' and let me know what...

Hi there, I'm trying to read an animated gif from a url (for a banner-rotator). The code I have now, does read the gif (or jpg), but the result is that I only get the first frame of the animated gif, AND at a much lower quality :-( Important to note is that the image is read from a url (from a different server), and thus NOT from the local disk. Below is the code I use:

Hi, Do you know of a component for VB .NET that allows me to create animated (flash) charts? I found some of them, but they are only for ASP .NET, instead I'd like to create some charts in VB .NET that will be shown on a large screen to public (so they need to be very eye-appealing). Thanks, Marcos

At the top of the page on my website http://www.itemlook.com I have an animated gif called "eyeline.gif". It has worked fine in the past, but recently I am unable to get it to work using IE6. All that I get is a box with nothing in it. It almost seems as if the file will not open on my page, let alone animate. It still works fine with my Netscape browser. I am using Windows 98. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks,

I thought it would be nice to display some animated GIFs on some of my forms. I put a PictureBox control on a form, and loaded my GIF file in. It animates, but not properly. It seems very jerky and dwells on some frames longer than it should. Searching for this problem, I have found several people who have stated that animated GIFs don't work in a PictureBox at all, and you have to use the ImageAnimator. I assume they must be referring to...

Hey, I have a PHP script that I made for an image based shoutbox with emoticons. The problem is that php GD doesn't support animated gifs, yet perl GD does. How would I make it so that I could copy the animated gifs via Perl onto the static image that I made with php? I've tried with php imagecreatefromgif(), which produces a static image. I also tried using the GIFAnimation class from phpclasses to make an animated gif but it returns it as...

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
