Number of pages in a browser's session history

Hi guys,
is there a way (using javascript) to determine the number of pages in a
browser's session history?
I knew that Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla Firefox differ in their
definitions for this value, is it right?

Thanks! ;)

Track it on the server. In the client? No.

It doesn't matter as you can't find out from the client side.

Hi All I know this probably sounds like a newbie question, but I was under the impression that secure pages (https) don't appear in the history/address bar history list - this appears to be incorrect? Should I really be putting some form of expiry command at the head of each of these pages if I don't want casual users to see them? I use Classic ASP so is it better to use a command via this lang or the old

A user logs into a web site. He is then redirected to a web page of his choosing - based on menu options - for example: "WeeklyReport.aspx" is a page the user is currently viewing If the user session times out, I redirect the user to a "logoff.aspx" web page that now informs the user he must relogin to the web site Question: Is there anyway to clear the browser's history list (prior to Response.Redirect("logoff.aspx") - to ensure the user...

Hi all, I'm developing asp.net website. Most of the pages are aspx, but let's say, some 10% are html. For this html pages i use httphandlers to intercept calls and to perform some job on this pages. Lately I need to access Session state in HttpHandler's code. This seems to be the problem. I searched the internet for some solution, i always found advice to dervie from IHttpHandler and that will do, but obivously not.

Is there a way to get a user control to remember its state across pages? I have a standard page layout I use with a header and footer as user controls. Each page uses the same layout by means of copy paste (I hear this will improve in ASP.Net 2 via master pages). When I navigate from one page to the next the header and footer user controls lose their state because they are effectively different instances of the user control. Is there...

Hi all :-) I need to redirect to multiple pages on click of a transmit button, without redisplaying each page. This redirection is to capture session variables that are created on each page and pass them to the main page to be displayed. We are actually NOT using session variables, but storing the values in a temporary table. The problem is that the values don't get stored in the temporary table unless the user goes to each page...

Hi, After the user is signed out and taken to the login page, they can still use the back & history features in the browser to access pages. Every page (except login) has a check at the beginning to redirect the user after being logged out, but when the page is accessed via back button, the debugger doesn't stop at that code b/c the page is cached and is not generated at the server. How can I make these pages disappear from the...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
