Good JavaScript compression tool

Hi,

Anyone here use a nice open source JavaScript compression tool they
could recommend. Is there a well known standard tool for this? I
imagine a small script written in Ruby or Perl that removes comments,
extra whitespace (new lines where possible), shrinks variable names
etc.

Thanks,
Peter

Since this topic has come up several times in other threads, I thought I'd make a separate thread and gather opinions from (hopefully) a more varied range of newsgroup participants. What are your thoughts on the development and use of generalized, reusable javascript libraries? Discussion points: 1) Is the overhead of a 25k (for example) .js file too much for a typical

Is it best practice to set Unicode Compression to "No" for memo fields in a table? What about text fields? According to the VB help entry: "Data in a Memo field is not compressed unless it requires 4,096 bytes or less of storage space after compression. As a result, the contents of a Memo field might be compressed in one record, but might not be compressed in another record."

I'm looking for some tools that allow us to implement Javascript Header File Compression. I know there are parsers out there that kill all the commenting and obliverate the code to make it as small as possible, but perhaps if I show our situation we have this may make more sense. Our web application has a backbone engine that is downloaded to the end-users computer. Currently at a state of 30-40% complete, the main engine is over 600 KB...

Hi, Is there any tool that will concatinate JavaScript files compacting them spacewise and removing comment fields ? I have some sed script that sort of does the job but was wondering if there were any hopefully open source tools that will do the job. I don't want encryption or obverscation though.

Hi everyone. I would like to find a good JavaScript compactor/obfuscator. Obfuscation is not important to me really, but I would like a compactor that understands variables and functions in a way that it can shorten the names. I would also like for the compactor to be able to shorton the property/method names of custom objects if such a thing exists. I have seen several compactors around, but most of them have varying

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
