AJAX for real?

You may have seen InfoWorld columnist Jon Udell's blog and recording
of the AJAX tool called General Interface. Here's the link:

In case you are interested, we (TIBCO) are hosting a free-to-attend
AJAX/RIA webinar with the leading Gartner analyst covering rich
internet applications. We will also be showing a demonstration and
have an opportunity to answer attendees direct questions. Here's the

"Featuring Gartner and TIBCO"

Who is Gartner?

The appointed President of the US ?
The 'reelected' President of the US sans paper trail ?

What do you know about electronic voting and verification ?

-----------

Your ATM machine giving you a receipt the only thing you accept ?

------------

In Internet terms, even a few pearls given to you as cyber payment
for what you "own" would be to much.

You are game and a low ride intellectually.

Collecting human privacy, IDs, fatefulness, and destiny
and stinking selling or following up your f*ing 'leads'.

You stinking s*t.

Hi, I am interested in use AJAX, Javascript, .NET, etc. to retrieve information from a "real" database, not an XML file. I am trying to find out if that is a legitimate approach. All of the examples I have seen use AJAX to get the data from a XML file using XSL. Or do I use regular ASP.NET and ADO.NET to retrieve data and send it back surrounded by XML tags to a file and then the XSL file. Not real sure how to proceed here. I don't...

Peter Bromberg has an interesting article eggheadcafe discussing AJAX libraries. He prefers ANTHEM.NET over AJAX.NET because it doesn't break the stateful page model. Our developers are currently using AJAX.NET after extensive research because ATLAS is currently not ready for prime-time and much more verbose than AJAX.NET. I was looking at some "Hello World" status on various libraies and ATLAS does, indeed, result in much more traffic....

I just noticed that prototype.js is one of the files in the Ajax.NET distribution - I'm pretty concerned about this. Does anyone know if this is the same "prototype.js" that is not well-liked around here? If so, do you know if Ajax.NET can be used without prototype.js? -- "The most convoluted explanation that fits all of the made-up facts is the most likely to be believed by conspiracy theorists. Hi, I have an image reference (IMG) in my page that changes depending on the value of a database field. Clicking the image triggers an Ajax call to change the database field (toggles the field value between 1 and 0). I've made it work so that the image source changes to reflect the new value once the Ajax call is complete. In other words, the image reflects the value of the database field in real-time. Kind of like a real-time checkbox. This...

Ok, I am really frustraited. I just started looking into the Ajax ASP.net. And have some real big issues. And its only with Visual Studio. I have installed the AJAX 2.0 off of www.asp.net/ajax on both my production server and my machine. I currently am developing from a remote location through Front Page Extensions (thats where i think my problem is).

I would like to convert a form that currently uses the traditional CGI sequence (i.e. the action associated with the form sends a POST request to a server-side CGI script) to one that uses AJAX to send a JSON-encoded request to a remote web service. The stumbling block I'm running into is that one of the inputs in the form is a file upload element, and I can't figure out how to include the data from the specified file in the JSON...

I have run into a situation that if a page/tab that uses the Ajax toolkit (using .net version 3.5) is closed before the Ajax enable controls complete loading, then IE locks up. Does it in both IE7 and IE8. There is no issue when the controls are allowed to complete loading. Can you please tell me the best practice that handles this? Thanks.

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
