Slideshow display problem

I have a slideshow on my main page at www.canvasartists.com.

Many of my visitors started to complain that on their screen the slideshow
displays as flashing and/or blinking very quickly, and you can't really
appreciate the slideshow effect, which is supposed to be a nice crossfade
between the images.

I then realized than when viewed at 800x600 or lower it does this. Sometimes
it also does it at higher resolution, but with your browser window resized
to less than half of your screen.

However, I got the script for slideshow from another website which uses the
exact same code, and when viewed at 800x600 or lower their slideshow
displays perfectly.

Could someone please take a look at my code and tell me what could be wrong?

One thing I noticed, if I remove the box above it (the customers comments
box), this problem dissappears. But I haven't been able to figure out why.
Please help!

Thanks in advance.

By the way, this only happens in IE, it doesn't happen in Netscape.

Please help.

Sounds like FOUC (Flash of Unstyled Content).

Bluerobot explains it best: http://www.bluerobot.com/web/css/fouc.asp

Try using their methods to fix it.

Thanks for the link, but it didn't work.

However, it only occurs in IE, so he may be onto something. I tried
searching microsoft for any info if this was a "known problem", but couldn't
find anything.

I haven't been able to find a solution!! :*(

I kind of fixed it now.

I had to remove most of the CSS positioning and replace it with table
positioning. The blinking/flashing seems to have gone away.

Hi all, I'm using the following slideshow script that I found on the web to display changing images with a crossfade effect. Eventually I will be adding many more images to the slideshow. The thing is, I ALSO have to make it so the images will load randomly. I have looked at a number of scripts for random-loading slideshows, but I have to find a way to COMBINE this fading-image script (or, a different fading-image script, if...

Hi, I created an image gallery which displays 63 images in a slideshow. The problem is that the show was slow because each image loaded one at a time during the show. No problem right? I just did a preload script. But then the user has to sit for 5 minutes waiting for 63 images to download! My images are about 640x480 and average 100kb. Is this too much for one page to load? Should I load my slideshow into differerent windows? If so,...

Hi ! I need some help in putting together a website for our family gathering. Although I'm still pretty "green", I don't think what I need requires terribly advanced skills ...except for one area that has me right baffled. I want to put up a photo album slideshow but I want to stay away from Flash & Javascript. It just seems that anytime I use them, somebody

i currently use a SQL statement on my website to display a group of images (more specifically their location on the server) and links from the access database. only images that meet certain criteria are displayed in a table with the logo in one column and corresponding text link in the other column. the goal i have is to do away with this and instead of a very large, to make an image slideshow that scrolls through all the logos. i know...

Hi people, I am quite new to JS-scripting and I have a question. Finally I found a "good" slideshow which works in IE, Chrome, FF with prototype. The only thing is that I would like the slideshow to stop when the mouse is over the slideshow and start again when the pointer leaves the pics. Thanks alot in advance! Already found something, but don't know how to implement it:

Hello folks, I am unable to find appropriate documentation on the type promotion of bit-fields when using the generalised comparison operator "<=>". The problem is that using the GNU compilers, it seems that the internal comparison operator "<=>" tries to promote arguments from unsigned to signed. This is as boiled down as I can make it. Here is my compilation command: g++-12 -std=c++20 -Wnarrowing bit_field.cpp Here is the code in...

Overview: Windows 11 and 10 have less user interface control over operating system update behaviour than previous versions of Windows. In Windows 11 and 10, there is no way to turn off the Windows Update option using the Control Panel or Settings app; it automatically checks for updates and installs any it finds, whether you like it or not. For most users, this new feature is actually very convenient. If you want to control the update process,...

Dear forum friends, With the development of smart home technology, a variety of wireless communication protocols have appeared on the market, such as Zigbee, Z-Wave, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, etc. Each protocol has its own unique characteristics and advantages, but as a user who is planning to build a smart home system, I am a bit confused by the choice of these technologies. I'm particularly interested in Zigbee because I've heard it does some...

Let's talk about the concept of autonomous AI software engineers and no-code agents. These AIs are designed to manage the entire lifecycle of a software development project—planning, coding, testing, and deployment—without human intervention. Imagine an AI that can take a project description, break it down, write the code, debug it, and then launch it, all on its own.... Now, this would greatly impact the work of software developers. The idea...

Hello I'm a network technician in training and I need your help. I am currently learning how to create and manage the different types of VPNs and I have a question about LAN-to-LAN VPNs. The last exercise I practiced was to create a LAN-to-LAN VPN between two Pfsense firewalls, by using IPSEC protocols. I succeeded, with both firewalls in the same network. But I'm wondering if it's possible to do the same thing, with 2 Pfsense firewalls...
